Little more expensive than some others, but another option

I do my scrolling in the basement as well.  Don't know if you're wanting to do this much of a cabinet to put it in, but here's what mine looks like if it gives you any ideas.  Lighting helps a lot as well and the box fan in the back has a filter attached so pulls the dust away from you.

Needed something to give out at work, so got to looking at cutting paper and this is the results.  Cut card stock paper into 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" pieces (36 total) and 2 pieces of baltic birch 1/8" plywood for top and bottom.  used short screws along edges to make sure the paper was sandwiched and held in place, then just cut regular with #2 regular blades.  Cutting was MUCH slower, the paper makes it really solid cutting.  Took about 1.5 hrs to cut out, but came out with 36 paper ornaments and 2 wooden ones.  Made nice little something for everyone at work

DW...works amazingly well, would say it increses volume by at least 50% or better.  Tested another iphone on it before I put the finish on.

Been a while since on the site.  Thought would share this iPhone Passive Speaker.  Looked around the net and found different ways these have been made and made up my own pattern.  Used Forstner bits to do the holes progressively smaller and deeper.  Made of 3 pieces of wood, 2 pieces 3/4" Walnut and 1 piece not sure of the specific wood, some type of exotic that I had purchased a while back.  Middle piece of walnut has the groove in it for the sound to travel out to the holes.  Brass screws in the corners are more decoration now than when assembling.  Added the "H" (1/16" Slolid Brass) and .040 Copper to it for decoration and stability on the bottom.  Going to give as present at work for secret Santa gift.

Judy, there is a similar pattern in the Nov 2010 issue of Creative Woodworks & Crafts.  Thought it was the same, but it's not the oval pattern.

John...I have cut brass pretty close to 1/8" thick, but used a #1 Jewelers blade (from Sloan's Woodshop) and go "very" slow.  Also found if you put a layer of masking tape on the top and bottom sides it gives the blade some lubricant to work with, just don't force it or it will break lots of blades.  Oh, also, slowed my saw to slowest so it would not heat up the blade so fast.  Really tricky as the metal gets thicker. I have cut quite a bit in aluminum (.050), brass and copper.  I use the Forme d'Art Brand Jewelers Blades from Sloan's Woodshop (www.sloanswoodshop.com).  I usually use the 1-JW blade, just go slow and let the blade do the cutting.  If you force it too hard, it will grab or break the blade.  Just my 2 cents....

I agree, like the eagles as well and this turned out great.  Also agree that pine is a little brittle, but that makes it more of a challenge on pieces like this    Thanks for sharing Frank
