My students often compare the scroll saw to the sewing machine. The kids all think that the saw must be more dangerous, but we have had a few kids sew through their fingers and no one has needed more then a band-aid from the saw.

I recently needed some hardware(drawer pulls) for a project I am working on. I found a company that I would like to recommend to you.

I placed an order on Saturday evening and it arrived on Thursday, even with a mail holiday on Monday. That is pretty quick by my standards. (even beat amazon?s two-day shipping on something I ordered at the same time)
The prices on knobs and pulls are really low, and the quality of the pieces that I received is great. If I had purchased the pieces locally I would have paid several dollars more per knob,  and I ordered 35 pieces so it would add up quickly.
They have a flat rate shipping on all orders under $50. At $10.75 it sounds a bit steep, but really it isn?t too bad. My order plus shipping was still well under what I would have paid locally or at another website I looked at. Plus they offer free shipping on all orders over $50 which for hardware is fairly easy to do
My favorite thing about this company is that they offer a discount for woodshop teachers when buying for school projects. I have spent a ton of personal money on things for student projects over the years and any business that appreciates the things that happen in my shop is awesome.

There are a few on the web. It is mostly about drilling lots of holes. I made a 29 pattern but I can't find it.
Do you have any more specific ideas of what shapes you are looking for?

I use painters tape to hold stacks together. If the boards are unruly I use small nails or staples in waste areas to hold together.
I put the pattern on the tape using a regular craft glue stick. (I switched from spray adhesive when I got sick of going out in the cold to spray, or getting high and staying warm)
I almost always put a layer of clear packing tape over the pattern before I drill.

Just what I do.

The important thing is to do what works for you.

Your eagle is awesome! One of the pieces of advice that I give to new scrollers is that the lines can be thought of as suggestions in most cases. When the pattern is removed at the end of the project very few people will be able to recognize small deviations from the pattern. If a wing is short or has too many feathers or something, you will still often times end up with a good finished piece. If you round over all the corners instead of making them sharp, think of it as a creative choice.
Practicing is still a good idea, you will like the results better if they look closer to the starting pattern. but don't be too hard on your self.
Also, eyes and letters are really the exceptions to this advice. if the eyes of an animal or person are wrong, it will throw off an entire project. If letters are skinny or short or spaced oddly, it stands out. It can be hard to identify what is wrong with the words, but something won't feel right.

I usually release the blade from the top clamp (I'm a bottom feeder). I make most of my cuts as inside cuts, even outside perimeter cuts I drill an entry hole and cut as inside cuts. So when I am done for the day, I just take my piece off the saw.

A guy in my scrolling club has an awesome design for these, and has made a ton of them. I have one someplace. (I just moved so it is in one of the boxes marked "shop")
I can't remember how he attaches the sand paper, i think a wing nut is involved. I will see if I can find it. I think he had the idea published someplace like SAW, or maybe one of the magazines.

if you can sell them for that price then do it. I sell matted and framed pieces for $150 and up, depending on the complexity of the pattern. I once took a piece to a frame shop for an estimate on the cost of framing, the quoted me $250.  If you frame a piece well you can ask a decent price for it.

I am pretty sure There is part of the law that says something about how much effort it would have to take to get pieces apart. like the real possibility of getting a wheel off a car to choke on it, but i couldn't find that piece when I looked quick
