First of all, Thank you for your knowledge in Scroll Sawing and for sharing that knowledge with the Scroll Saw community.

You recently created a pattern titled "Cowboy Gnome" of Boots McGraw and Buckshot. I have had several requests for a Cowgirl Gnome and was hoping you might create a similar pattern.

One of Steve's videos showed him using a piece of wood to disengage the locking lever for the upper arm. Not sure which video but it might have been the one where he reviewed that particular saw.

I order from Walmart at 6 cans at a time. They seem to be the least expensive and I haven't had any problems with them being out of stock.

Hi Danny, I started with FD when I began scrolling almost a year ago. I switched to Pegas and feel they cut a lot faster. I also started by using the #5 blade, later switched to #3 and then the #1. I also found the smaller blades seemed to cut faster. After I gained experience in cutting I did a fairly complicated piece and tried spiral blades. Now I cut almost exclusively with spirals except when doing long lines or edges of projects. I also find the Pegas blades last longer than FD. Most of what I cut is on 1/4 ply (BB or Maple) and depending on the piece, usually double stacked.

Nicely done. Letters are always hard to cut... even for a seasoned scroller. If you have a heavy blade (#5 or larger) you can glue a piece of sandpaper around the blade and use it to knock the uneven cuts away. I usually use a blade that is dull. Cut a strip of sandpaper just large enough to fold around the blade and give it a go. The little fuzzies that come from sawing I will either burn off with a torch or use a mini file set. Burning actually works pretty good as long as you don't leave the torch in one place very long.

Don't forget to post your finished product with the stain and finish.

I've never ordered from Lesley's Patterns so I have no knowledge of the business. I've ordered my blades from artcraftersonline.com and have been completely satisfied with their service. The proprietor, Denny, is on several of the scroll saw forums and is more than helpful. He sales Pegas blades and almost always has a special to receive 10 to 15 percent off your order with the appropriate code. You can go to his website and indicate you would like to receive his monthly newsletter which always has the appropriate sales code for that month.

Also, Bear Woods is one of Steve's sponsors and they sell several brands of blades. I've never ordered from them but I can almost assure you if Steve is associated with them their service is good.

Usually, mineral spirits will remove the adhesive without harming the wood. Some scrollers use spray adhesive on their patterns and then remove it with mineral spirits by letting it soak through the pattern to loosen the adhesive. Personally, I use spray adhesive to attach the pattern and if the pattern is any trouble to remove, I'll hit it with a little heat from a heat gun. In most cases the adhesive comes off with the pattern but I give my projects a little final sanding which removes anything that is left.

Jim, a lot of times the alignment with the blade being in the center of the hole on the table is adjusted by simply loosing the bolts/screws holding the table, adjusting and then retightening. If you are talking about the table being 90 degrees to the blade when from the factory, these also may take minor adjustments. The best way to check this is using a piece of wood that is just able to go from the table to the upper arm with a blade installed. Feed the wood into the blade about 1/16 of an inch just enough to see the saw line. Then flip the piece of wood over and see if it aligns with the back of the blade. If it is straight up and down when held against the blade, your table is square with the blade. There are a lot of videos showing this on Youtube and Steve has a video on this also. Hope this helps.
