Did you put the cam weight back in the original position? Logic says its there as a counterweight and if rotated of its proper position it will make vibrations worse instead of cancelling them.

If the drill holes are causing you problems you can use a trick bandsaw box makers use. Start from the outside of the pattern and find a spot the grain is oriented in the right direction and make a cut following the grain to the next cut in the pattern. When you glue the cut back together it will be all but invisible and if you cut the next ring in a different spot across it the cuts will not create any weak spots in the bowl either.

Ive seen stacked ring bowls cut from plywood with a scrollsaw posted in forums, with good quality ply they come out pretty nice.

For doing it on the cheap a box fan with a filter taped to the front can trap a lot of dust that floats in the air.

Pete Marken made a jig for a scrollsaw for cutting rings for vortex bowls. I bought one from him at a symposium but could not find mention of it on his website. You can see the jig in this tutorial. Uses a spiral blade to eliminate tracking issues.

A bit of spray glue and some 1/8” baltic birch ply is all you need. Christmas cards are indeed great for doing puzzles, and family photos made into puzzles make great gifts as well. Peel and stick clear plastic laminate can help make it more durable but not strictly neccesary.

Spiral blades are just about standard practice when doing portrait and picture patterns as they allow complex cuts without all the twisting and turning a straight blade requires. They can be a bear to learn to control, especially if you are accustomed to how a straight blade behaves. I see the forum is quite inert at this time. Have you tried talking up the forum in your daily posts to get more activity? Folks dont seem to be aware of its existence.
