Ask Steve a question. / Re: How do I get Steve to answer a question ??
« on: February 21, 2022, 05:23:13 pm »
Thanks for all of your suggestions.
I have tried the direct email address too but have not gotten a reply from that either. Not taking it personally but I wish I could get an answer from him on a product he is selling

This is supposed to be a place where we can ask Steve a question but apparently that is not how it functions.
I have been trying to ask him about the laser that he uses and about updating the $3 pattern catalog that I bought last year.
How do I get Steve to answer a question ??

Ask Steve a question. / $3 catalog index
« on: January 20, 2022, 06:06:10 pm »
I purchased the $3 catalog index a couple years ago. It only includes up to Oct 2020.  How do I get an update on the catalog? Do I need to purchase the $20 version to get the latest ?  The Pattern Downloader says to check the version number but I can't find a version number on mine. I do see that version #22 is the current online version.
Thank you

Thanks.

Can you tell me when Steve posted his laser hole finder?  My searches don't reveal anything about it.

Thanks

Thanks Don but it still is not showing up for me anywhere.  Do you know the date when it was published ?

I still don't know if the catalog Steve sells has been updated since March.

The latest version of the Pattern Downloader seems to be March 11, 2020.  Is there a newer version that I haven't been able to download ?
I have been searching your blog pattern calendar unsuccessfully for a pattern that I think was called "tealightdog"

Introduce Yourself. / Re: Arm Lift over all for higher end machines
« on: June 20, 2020, 10:53:06 am »
I talked to Excalibur tech and he gave me the solution.  Plenty of WD-40 on all the possible contact places on the rear of the arm. Then work it up and down many times until it moves freely.  I couldn't even budge the arm when I received it and thought there was no way to do interior cuts. I was ready to box it up and send it back.  Been using for 2 months now with no arm problem.
One thing I find annoying is how quickly the speed slows as soon as it contacts the cutting material.  Since they claim that it has a constant torque motor I assume even though it slows it has the same power as when it is "idling".

No, it was 5/16/20 basket.  Fortunately I found it without too much trouble.
Thanks for the reply.

Ask Steve a question. / Concentric rings basket 5/16/20

I saw this bowl a few weeks ago but could not find it in the pattern catalog downloader.  I searched through May Blog until I found and downloaded it. The PDF calls it Concentric Rings Basket. I don't think it is in the current catalog.

I have a suggestion which I am sure you thought of before.  I try to use naming conventions to specify the item category first and then the name of the particular variety or subset of that item, e.g. instead of "Concentric Ring Basket" I would use "Basket Concentric Ring".  That would make it easier to search the catalog without looking at all the thumbnails.  Just a thought from someone who admires and appreciates your work and passion for scrolling.

No. There is a slight gap between the table and the plastic that forms a chamber which connects to the dust port.  If you take off the plastic you will reduce the effectiveness of the dust removal system.  It would be nice if the manufacturer would provide this guidance but all they are worried about is getting you $$.

Ask Steve a question. / Mama Bear Pattern
« on: April 21, 2020, 07:00:39 pm »
I really like the Mama Bear pattern and have made a few of them already. The only problem is that the puzzle does not completely interlock. I modified the Mama's tail to lock better but I would like to match the baby's tail.  Any suggestions ?
