Nicole, If you lightly sand your wood before you apply the shelf liner, and be sure to wipe the dust off after sanding, it will help a LOT with the lifting you spoke of. I use 220 grit paper to do the sanding.

Titebond III or Epoxy will do well

Get a handy box from your big box store, install a regular light switch with a cover and mount it to your table, you will probably never have to replace it. Just a suggestion.

If you want smaller rings just reduce the size on your printer page like make it 75% in place of 100% and see what you get

I notice that a LOT of people just post the same comments just worded a little differently. I realize that some want to increase their post count and have no real information to add andI gears that's O.K. I for one get tired of reading the same thing over and over, Kind of like watching the news.
 Just my $.02

I would avoid any tropical hardwood with the exception of Mahogany, My personal choice would domestic hardwood like Cherry, or Maple, or Walnut, something that is close grained and not prone to splintering

I'm usually setting 3,4, up to 10 degrees, so the gage doesn't slide off the table.  However, if you were to set up for a 45 degree it would slide off. Cheers Brian

Brian, the angle gauges have rare earth magnets in the base and will not slip off the table.
