I have had great results using lemon oil but so far the BLO/MS mix is still in limbo.  I am pretty sure after posting the problem that humidity is the culprit for the BLO mix.  I do like the lemon oil -  it sure makes the grain pop. the drawback to me is that you have to coat the entire piece due to the lemon oil never drying. Not a really huge problem, just one you need to be aware of. When I make napkin holders, I make sure the bottom has a good coat of clear acrylic. Don't want to stain anyone's tablecloth. Waiting for a dryer day to try the BLO mix again. Have not used Danish but a friend has and I produced a nice finish. I think I read that you can make Danish by adding urethane or varnish to the BLO mix.

« on: August 13, 2012, 06:52:50 pm »
Lena is pregnant with Ole's child.

Late one night, Lena vakes Ole and says, 'I tink it's time!'

So Ole fired up the Yohn Deere tractor and took her to the hospital to
 have  their first baby.

She had a little boy, and the doctor looked over at Ole and said, 'A
 son!
Ain't dat Great!' Well, Ole got excited by dis, but yust den the doctor
 spoke up and said,

'Hold on! We ain't finished yet!' The doctor den held up a little girl..
He  said, 'Hey, Ole! You got you a daughter!' She's a pretty little ting,
 too.'

Ole got kind of puzzled by this, an then the doctor said, 'Holey Moley,
 Ole
we still ain't done yet!' The doctor then delivered another boy and
 said,
Ole, you yust had yourself another boy!'

Ole was flabbergasted by this news!
>
A couple days later, Ole brought Lena and their three Children home in
the self-propelled combine. He was real Serious and he asked Lena , 'How
come we  got tree on the first try?'

Lena said, 'You remember dat night we ran out of Vaseline and

You vent out in the garage and got dat dere 3-in-1 Oil?'

Ole said, 'Yeah, I do..  It's a dam good ting I didn't get the
 WD-40!!.

I agree, set up the saw and start making some sawdust. Soon after that the questions will come.  Right now you most likely do not even know the questions.   Happy cuting.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: New blades
« on: August 10, 2012, 01:38:36 pm »
I only use FD blades and only order from Mike. Just go an order in last week and once again superior service, and the quality is next to none. I have almost 2 gross of other blades, mostly Dremel and Vermont-American that I can';t even give away.  I use them to convert others to FD. Give them a couple to try and them give a FD blade. Usually works very quickly.

When I had the little problem with the tension inidcator and talked to the factory rep, he did ask me had I replaced original blade and I told him I put on a 1/2 inch Timberwolf re-saw blade. He answered GOOD MOVE!!!!

Very nice cross. I cut quite a few crosses and give many away. Folks always seem to appreciate the thought.

I have the 14" Rikon Bandsaw and  in my opinion you cannot put enough e's in sweeeeet to describe it!!!!! Had a problem with the tension indicator ( no problem with the tension) called the 800 number and after a couple of measurements the rep discovered that the split pin was either pushed in too far or it was too short. Either way, the sent me a couple of the pins, Very easy fix, pull the old one out and put the new one in. This allowed the indicator to remain on the pin and give a correct reading. The Tech Rep knew his stuff. I bought the saw from Woodcraft last November and have no regrets at all.

I usually only need a zero clearance insert for a short time and one or two frets.  I generally just grab an old playing card and use it for a a few cuts.
