General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Ease of Blade Replacement
« on: October 30, 2012, 08:28:39 am »
Hey IBMer....  Well to be honest with you I have owned a few low end Scrollsaws and had problems with that dang bottom blade clamp on all three of um.  I was graced with my brother giving me his used Hegner.  Difference between NIGHT N DAY with installing a blade.  Just if you don't know.  The blade clamp for the bottom is actually installed and tightened out of the saw.  Then its a matter of clamping the holder into its spring loaded holder.  PIECE OF CAKE.  Can do it with your EYES CLOSED.  LOL
Love This Forum, Flying Dutchman Blades and a Hegner Scroll Saw.  Danny  :+}

Hi Bayman....  I speak from past experience.  Years ago I purchased my Scroll blades from good ole Lowes.  Have all kinds of unhappy experiences with them.  Didn't know about the Forum then.  Was advised (like dgman did for u) and bought me Mikes Flying Dutchman Blades and I was really amazed at the difference they made with cutting wood.  Wow!  Get yourself some and I bet you will be back here bragging about them and your scrolling.  Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Using Packing Tape.... :+}
« on: October 30, 2012, 06:33:13 am »
Well it looks like most all feel that putting the clear packing tape at least over the top of the pattern is must.  I have not had any problem with the pattern lifting when I use
Permanent Spray glue to the bottom of pattern and also top of Blue painters tape.  And Yes we all have our own proven methods.  I don't use Clear Packing tape.  Well this be my Method.  Thanks to All....  Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Using Packing Tape.... :+}
« on: October 29, 2012, 06:00:25 pm »
I know....I Know....  A Lot of you wrap clear packing tape all around your cutting blanks.  I did it ONE TIME and did not like having to peel that clear sticky tape off
the back side of the last blank.  I can understand the tape some what Lubricates
the blade as it cuts.  I know dgman to each his own.  LOL  Beat Yas....

Could I see a vote of who uses this method and who don't?

PROS N CONS are ALWAYS wELCOME....  Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Portrait out of Veneer?
« on: October 25, 2012, 01:32:24 pm »
Thanks Char for letting us see your pictures.  You gave Veneer hope (I think)
Like take wood with not much grain (like BB) (TO ME) and glue the patterned
veneer to it and stack cut say 3 or 4 at a time and if all cut good there would
be say 3 Beautiful pieces of Patterned Wood.  Wow!  Wouldn't the be Good?

I SECOND and THIRDS all said above.  I went thru what you are going thru long ago and have learned the saw needs to run at approx. 3/4 speed.  Running slower will
give the blade more of a chance to get off the line.  Everything I learned took lots of practice, but now years later.  Every cut is a PIECE OF CAKE.  LOL  Danny  :+}

I have seen this pattern posted here and after seeing it I just had to cut some for myself.
Used the good ole 1/8" BB stacked in 4 layers.  All cut Wonderfully.  Can someone help me
with giving credit to the Designer?  Don't know.

And of course I am gonna set them out FOR SALE at my Show in a few weeks.
            And as MY usual....  Always Love to read how much Mullah you would charge.

Looking Forward to reading the Pros n z Cons....  Danny  :+}
