I must agree with Chachi on at least one point.
Movie stars are so proud and get their names in the media because the adopt children from third world countries when we in the US have plenty of adoptable children available.
They have telethon's to raise money to feed the starving overseas when we have allot of homeless and hungry people right here within our borders.
Charity begins at home and our way of life does not work for every other country around the globe.

Just my two and one half cents worth.

Another one of my pet peeves! Pro ball sports. Not only are the players, teams and organizations over payed, they are doing it from the wallets of the fans that they are suppose to entertain and expect the fan to support them in spirit.
Football used to be a fall sport, now it starts in July and ends in March!
Basketball was a winter sport, now it goes from September until April!
Baseball was for summer time fun, these days they play from March to October.
And most of the players of all of the pro sports have contracts for millions of dollars a year paid for by anyone interested enough to attend a game.
I can't help but wonder what tax bracket they are in? Do they pay at the 30 percent rate that I do? I doubt it.

Off my soap box now.......

I agree, you need to approach a "farming or rural" community for these.
Two points...
#1 They are kind of large so transporting them could be a problem for people who do not have a truck or van.

#2 A lot of city folks do not have yards large enough for such a decoration.

Answers....
#1 Are you willing or able to deliver the windmills to a customers home?

#2 Is it possible to make them smaller? Say a two footer will fit in a car and look nice on a front porch or garden in a city area.

Just my two cents worth.

PS I built a windmill my self and it is over nine feet tall.

I always do any gluing (usually Titebond II) before putting any finish on any thing. Or at least tape off any areas that will need to be glued later. Like water, glue and oil just don't mix even after the oil is dry.

Gabby,
I think it was Ernest Hemingway who said something to the effect that "The only true sports were bull fighting, mountain climbing and motor racing all the rest are just games". I happen to be one of those who agree with Papa and you.

Ask Steve a question. / Re: Making a Dewalt saw stand more mobile
« on: October 11, 2011, 08:57:38 pm »
DaveP,
That is a good idea and I understand your design but.....The problem is.....The two legs on a DeWalt stand are on the front! The single leg is in the rear. However, it is a wider leg so maybe if a person could build an Axel wide enough to match the width of the front legs (about 20") and maintain the wheels in position, your idea would be a good one.
Keep the suggestions coming!

Good tip dgman, I wish you had posted that one earlier.  ;)  I just had a similar problem but, I just pushed and shoved until I got it to pop back together.  :P  The thought of using a little heat never entered my mind. DOH!!!!  ::)

I think that any of the heaver, coarser papers (read cheap) would work. Tissue or newspaper would NOT work so well. And cardboard would be hard to handle (and I doubt it would work very well anyway). Just try anything you have laying around and see if it does the job and GO FOR IT!!!
Different strokes for different folks!

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Ex-21 and blades
« on: October 08, 2011, 11:37:36 am »
I have two suggestions on what is happening.
#1 If you are not holding the blade vertical when tightening the lower clamp it could bend when you swing the upper end into the top holder which would bend the lower end of the blade.
#2 (and probably the real reason) The swivel screw on the lower blade clamp is too tight and won't allow the clamp to swivel witch would cause the blade to bend also as in case #1.
Just my two cents worth.

I saw a photo of a Steve Jobs tribute the other day where the silhouette face was in the place of the "bite" in the apple. I thought it was very cool. Someone might try cutting one like that.?

dgman,
If you had seen the game that was stopped because of the squirrel running around on the field, you would understand what GB is talking about. It was funny! In fact I think it happened at two games if memory serves.
