Hi Judy
I moved the screw from the hold down bar which I never would use to the one to hold my blade in.  Works like a dream.

The whole project is very nice.  I like with or without the clock, I have done a few wood rounds and enjoy them.  Love the owls.

In the summer, I work in a storage building made of wood but the roof is metal.  I tried foam insulation but it hardly works at all.  I installed cardboard boxes flattened out (several layers) and left space above them to form a place for hot air.  It works great - also use a fan to blow across my saw to blow out the sawdust and hot air.   Put in a little thermometer and if it gets 92 degrees - I quit until it cools off.  There is plenty of sanding and finishing to do under the trees where it is cooler.

If you oil it, I would love to see how it comes out.   Beautiful work!

I use the cheapest method.  Just put the item you are copying on a window and put copy paper over it and trace away.  (You can also use a light box).  Once you have your tracing use your copier to change it's size.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Blades
« on: July 20, 2011, 04:36:43 pm »
Almost all of my work is done using red oak.  I put the packing tape on top of my pattern.  I also use the #5 FD reverse blade - even for tiny areas.  I use the spray adhesive very very lightly.  Yes sometimes the pattern lifts up but I use a piece of scotch tape to hold it down til I am through with the project.  Then if the pattern sticks I use a heat gun or blow dryer.  Usually the pattern comes off very easy.  Hope this helps.

She is made from red oak and is 12 inches tall.  I made the pattern from a picture.  I will post the pattern but I have to scan it first.
