Hi Torsten, yes that's the same way they do the captured nail puzzle. It is more fun to do the carving but the other way sure saves on the cut fingers. :)

Hi Stephen, Corel Draw is not specifically designed to edit .pdf files although it will import them. Depending on how the .pdf was created they can be re-sized after being imported.

Bulletins and News / New Gallery in BETA
« on: June 17, 2011, 04:20:01 pm »
If you look at the menu at the top of the forum you will notice a new item. I added a Picture Gallery for you to upload projects and mug shots. This is in early testing so don't get too crazy with it yet as it might go up and down until I get any kinks worked out.

When you add a picture you will be given a direct link to the file so you can embed the picture in your messages. I ask that you use this link only for messages posted on this forum please.

Anyone who would like to help me test the gallery please upload a few pictures and see if the linking works. Let me know of any issues you have. Thanks.

The current size limitation is 640 x 640. That should be plenty big enough to allow for good viewing of your projects.

Bulletins and News / Latest spam attack

Sorry about the Russian spam attack today. I think I have them deleted. If you see anymore please report them and I'll zap them ASAP. Try not to comment in the spam topic. It just makes it take longer to delete. Just report and move on. Thanks

If you have a Hobby Lobby in your area they carry small light kits like the one I used. Here is a link to the one I purchased. You can find similar ones at most hobby store.

That's one of the nicest pieces I have seen in a while. Everything about this is perfect. Glad I got to see it.

Pattern Requests. / Re: bunny pattern
« on: April 11, 2011, 05:36:20 pm »
Hey guys, I know it's not anything malicious but you have to have permission from the original designer of a pattern before you can redistribute it. Even if it is a free pattern. You can link to the original source but you cannot upload the pattern here.  I know it seems silly but free does not mean that no money is made for the pattern. Designers post free patterns to get people to come to their web site. They then make money from advertising and other means. If you upload the pattern here then that's lost revenue for the original designer. In this case I knew the original designer and ask him if it needed to be taken down and that was his request. Thanks for understanding and helping out.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Lemon oil
« on: April 06, 2011, 11:21:31 pm »
I will often spray within minutes of dipping the project. I dip. Let it drip. Wipe off the oil on top. Then I use an air compressor to blow it dry to the touch. Like Mainewoods said it takes forever for it to dry completely and when it does the wood goes back to it's original look. I know it sounds odd but it works for me. The reason I started doing it this way was because I am always in a hurry to finish a project and get it posted on the blog. One day I just got in a hurry and sprayed it right after I wiped it down. To my surprise it did not make much difference to let it set over night.

Your right I never did finish that tut. Let me put that back on my todo list. We have several new members now and they might like that also. Give me a couple days and I'll see if I can make that happen.
