Toy Makers / Re: Crayon Train (in progress)

Smitty,

I like the train. IT can be adapted to different  numbers of crayons.  You could even use it as a pencil holder. Even a holder for scroll saw blade tubes! Yesterday I picked up 4 sets of kids markers at a garage sale. Drew out a fairly simple  worm and will cut and drill to fit the eight or ten piece sets. Your train will make a great gift for kids and I am sure you could sell them also.   Nice Idea.

The Coffee Shop / Hysteria at the commissary
« on: September 20, 2012, 03:18:54 pm »
There was a bit of confusion at the commissary this morning. When I was
ready to pay for my groceries, the cashier said, "Strip down facing me."

Making a mental note to complain to my congressman about Homeland Security running amok, I did just as she had instructed.

When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that
she was referring to my credit card.

I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future.

They need to make their instructions to us seniors a little clearer!

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Re: easy rustic finish

I filtered my batch yesterday and it is ready to go.  I have tried it on several types of wood.  Oak turns almost black. Baltic Birch turned a deep brown, pine about the same. I ever put a couple swipes on a piece of treated 1X6 and the results wo darker but not a dark as the plain pine. Does anyone know if that is a way to stop the reaction when you get a color you like, or is it all it nothing?  OH, if your work bench is wood, and some gets spilled It will turn darke too!

After another day or two I will run the batch through a filter and have it when I need it.  Oh and even the cats would not stay in the shop when I was testing it. All doors and windows were open too!

One thing that surprised me was how little it takes to make the color change. I tried a putting on a very light coat.  Same results!   Keffie, after reading your post, I wonder why I decided to make a double size batch :(

As an owner of three cats, be assured that #6 2nd sentence "Ignore low growls"  is absolutely incorrect. Have the scars to prove it.  Otherwise LMBO
