Hi Gene....  Sorry for the DELAY in posting a reply.  The bottom oval is Pine.
The Fairies are from 1/2" Popular.  I wondered about the clear whiteness of
that picture myself.  It is just bare wood.  No finish.  Think was where I snapped
the pic and using the flash.  Hey it does look pretty good huh?  Danny  :+}

     Breakfast was just finishing when we heard a Loud Pop.  Yep!  Power went out.
Was up and running again in a couple hours.  Was thinking about all that maybe
had a Ham or Turkey in the oven or other foods cooking for their Celebration.
     Didn't spoil our New Years Day festivities.  Got started as planned when the
power came back on.  Yea!
                   Anyway to All my Scrollin family I wish all a Very Safe and Happy 2013.

Oh do I for sure remember the good ole BEGINNING days with using that messy
Carbon Paper.  Oh the memories of so much time trying to follow the cut lines
with that pencil.  Bad memories.  Use the painters tape n spray glue.  Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: 5 x 5 1/4" birch plywood????
« on: December 31, 2012, 12:10:24 pm »
Hello Ken....  I have cut many projects out of good ole LOWES birch ply and all came
out good.  Not nearly as Quality as using BALTIC BIRCH PLY tho.  The sheets I bought
were 2 ft. by 4 ft. and I can't remember any problems.  I would FOR SURE cut a full
sheet down to smaller usable pieces.  Just my 2 cents....  Danny  :+}

Just flipping threw and Wow! on that Ferris Wheel you showed us Dan.  Just wondering if anyone has actually built one of these?  Looks so, so interesting, but makes me feel uneasy about getting into it.  Oh well....  Danny  :+}

Tried using food coloring years ago and didn't like the looks, but has been and will be way to cold to do any real finishing, so decided to give this another go.  For some reason the overall looks of the wood is real, real good.  Used bout half bottle of FC to about 2 cups water.  Let each soak approx. 5 minutes.  Was expecting each to come out looking brighter and deeper color, but came out pastel.  Cool....  Danny  :+}
