General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Shop Vac on Bucket

They can be a bit noisy but, I have also seen tutorials where other scrollers have
built a small cabinet to place the vacuum in to damper the noise. Still doesn't take up
much space and reduces the noise.
Simple build with just 3 walls, top, bottom, and a hinged front. Could also be mounted on
casters.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Using "Painters Tape" --OR NOT-- :+}
« on: December 22, 2013, 06:59:57 pm »
Sounds like you found the method that you like the best, Danny, which is what we should all do
to help enjoy our hobbies.
I still like the blue painter's tape method for several reasons.
It does not require any heat or solvents to remove and can be bought really cheaply at
the dollar type stores. You can use just the amount that you need instead of cutting up your
8" x 11" sheets for small ornaments and such.
As already stated, we just have to find what appeals to us to make our hobby enjoyable to us.

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Re: Enhancing veining
« on: December 21, 2013, 10:54:55 pm »
I don't know the dimensions of what you are working on but, if
the pattern is large enough, you can use a spiral blade for the veining and
the kerf will be larger than if you had used a flat blade.

Beautiful job, Danny,
I don't really think that beautiful work needs a backer but, that's just my opinion.
