Alex Snodgrass from Carter Bandsaw accessories does the same thing at their demos. It is amazing to stand there in person and watch a demo like that!

Thanks everybody! Sheila did a great job with the designs. I presented them to the recipient tonight at a party on the other side of the state and she really appreciated them. She has basically adopted the song as her theme for the Christmas party for several years now, so they have special significance to her.

Here are 3 ornaments I cut from Sheila Landry's 12 days of Christmas series for a friend. The Partridge is lacewood, the turtledoves are purpleheart and the French hen is 100 year old barn wood from Indiana.

lacquer should dry in minutes! If it is still sticky the next day, there is either a problem with the lacquer or something underneath the lacquer.

In addition to what everyone else has said, don't worry about asking too many questions. We are all here to share and we have all gone through the same phases. Better to ask than to stumble around making "designer firewood" while you learn.

If the machine ever had XP installed then it is compatible and you could always format the hard drive and install XP. If it was made for Windows 7 it may still work, but you could have some hardware that might not be recognized by XP and they might not be compatible. Give it a while. 7 is a good system.

CA glues are a great way to remove a splinter to! When you get a stubborn splinter, just put a drop on top and give it a few minutes, then peel it off and it will often take the splinter with it.

Good job Russ! You never know what birds will show up in Florida. We watched a huge bald eagle land in a norfolk island pine right across the street from our house in the middle of St Petersburg last year.
