Other than script, most of the fonts I use, I use all  caps. This is one of the few I like the looks of the small letters too.

Thanks for the list Pete. I had not seen the Scroll Beach font before so I found it, liked it a lot and wanted to try it out. Here is the results.

I' prety sure that is not a technical term, but from now on it is the one I will use. Best description ever.  And you will get credit too!

I cut one of the angle ribbons yesterday and used Red Rit Dye ( liquid) mixed with denatured alcohol.  Used an eye dropper and put a couple of droppers full of alcohol then about the same amount of dye. mixed and applied with a small stiff artist brush. The color came out much better that anything else I have used so far.. ( water and dye. dye straight from the bottle). After it dried - about 30 minutes -  I applied a second coat and it did improve the color some.  I hope to get a picture later. I plan to take it to a show on Saturday and see what happens. I think part of the trick here is to mix what you are going to use all at one time and NEVER try to duplicate that exact color!

Hi Neil, Welcome to the group. I understand the upgrade dilemma -  its an ongoing thing for me.

Julie,

I refer to the cull bin as the "Wood Dumpster".  Tell my wife I'm going dumpster diving when I go there.  Found some pretty good stuff too. Last year bought a sheet (4x8) of 1/4 oak ply for 51 cents. Plus they give two cuts for no charge and I had it cut into quaters. Had one small corner broken off.

Cooper Black is my go too font but I also use Word Art ( a font, not the Word Art built into Word. For a different look I use Baltimore. There are some tiny cuts and the letters have "feet".  With this font, you have to put in your own bridges. I usually get everything where I want it, then put bridges in the first of each letter that needs one. I copy and past the first so that they all look  the same. Hope this makes sense.

A more subtle approach might be

Sometimes I laugh so hard tears run down my leg!

I have played around with the Rit Dye  some. So far have not used it in a project.  I was able to get the best looking color using the liquid and not diluting it at all.  Pour enough in a butter tub to cover what you need and then dip. Let dry. I still want to do some more testing.  Anyone else tried?
