Pattern Requests. / Re: Pattern transfer question

Gabby...More & more I rely on the paper with the self adhesive back.  Yes it is more expensive, but it is more convenient and you are not as committed.  In other words it is repositionable.  If you aren't happy with where you put it, you can take it up and apply again.  I think I would still use the tape regardless for the lubrication.

I realize this doesn't apply to transferring for pyrography, sorry.

I'm with you Gabby.  I wouldn't find it funny if it happened to me.  Kudos to Judy for her solution to the problem.  It was nice to turn her problem into a boon for someone else.

Spiral hams are great.  My wife likes to bake them and use a glaze.  I prefer to cook them in a smoker with a garlic salt rub.

Glad you like them Glen.  I had to find something that was a little of a challenge in order to keep up with the fine work I have seen you do.  See, you inspired me!

You are right Dan.  Just goes to prove that behind every silver lining there is a dark cloud.  (is that how that goes?)

Bill, you are right about dampness and shellac!  I sprayed a piece of furniture I made with a few coats yesterday and the last coat went on too late.  The evening dew set in and this morning it had a white blush like a coat of paint.  I resprayed the area with denatured alcohol once the sun was on it and it cleared right up.  Lacquer will blush with dampness to.

I like lacquer and shellac, but in your situation I would switch temporarily to a water born finish until I could either get outside again or find a sheltered location you can raise the temperature in safely and away from the house.  Russ is absolutely right!

Cute Russ!  Same wishes back at you.  We need to meet and shake hands one of these days.  We aren't that far apart!

Jim,  You might consider making this same post over on www.lumberjocks.com.  A lot of the guys over there are really proficient at dust collection and many have made different types of air filters and so forth.

Yes but it is very hard on blades.

I agree with GB, call Mike.  There are many things that factor into your problem including tension.  It could also be a matter of matching the size and attributes of the blade to the wood and the task at hand.  Mike is very helpful.

If the bag breaks, just get out the slip n slide and have a party! ;D

Actually if you use a bag intended for construction clean up or leaves etc, there isn't much chance of it breaking.  That is what I used routinely to transport 5 and 6 foot rattlesnakes and I've never had one break yet.
