According to the distributor in NZ you are supposed to slacken off the rear tension knob then reset after changing a blade, his theory is it stops the links and rods from breaking, dosn't sound rite to me plus I don't have time to do that every time I replace a blade

Thanks Marg for your input if Dewalt wasn't such a snob it would sell there saws world wide, the market is an open book in NZ and in OZ, there is hundreds of sales to be had, there is scrollers waiting for this machine to be on sale in both countries

The first problem I had was a main bearing go, the next was the variable speed control, now it is the linkages [I think] the biggest problem the dealers are 700km away and it has to be freighted and they are not the cleverest at repairing, they now have an agent where I live so I took it out to them yesterday and now will have to wait for them to call me
I would buy another one of the popular saws but they are not available in NZ,As you say Dan there are always duds but for what they charge for these saws [$1300nz] I paid it should give better service that it has, I have only had it for 2 1/2 years

Disappointed today my Excalibur 21 clapped out again rite in the middle of my busy season, I am beginning to think these saws are not as good as they are supposed to be, this is the 3rd time it has let me down in just over 2 years and for the price of these machines I think they should last longer than this, these are my thoughts , what do you members of the forum think

I always put a return address on my parcels I also put a short note in about the wood, [normally a native of NZ] and my name and user name, I suppose some people like to keep their name anonymous, for what reason I have no idea

Danny make sure you have a good selection on your table, plenty of things to get attention, I try and do something new for every show I do, I have one this W/E and have made some jewelry, men's and women's  not sure how they will sell but worth a try, I have done about 15 fairs this year and takings are from $100 to $1500 so you have to go with the flow [so to speak]
Good luck for your next one

I had a real bad MVA in 86 and it took many years to get over some of it but with hobbies and friends on forums such as this this, it is great, now into my 70's and still doing a bit of odd jobbing things are great, BUT the biggest scare I had today was an e-mail from my daughter to say she had been in a bad MVA but had no bad injuries and I thank god for that, she said all she could think about was her 2 little boys and what would have happened to them if she had not survived
Frightening as I told her as this was my thought as well when I had my crash,
All the best to the members that have had a real bad year health wise

Like Dan I found double sided tape to hard to remove so I use either clear packing tape or an air staple gun, I find sapling the easier and quickest method

You have had plenty of advice John so I can't add much more except that you have to learn and it is not as easy as most think, like any hobby trade what ever you have to learn
