Thanks so much Ray! Also, some of my fondest memories are of the time I spent serving onboard the USS TURNER JOY DD-951.

Thanks to everyone for your kind and encouraging comments. The best thing about finishing a project is knowing you can now start another one.

So together from me and Max we thank you!

This is an Intarsia of my best friend, but I think I will keep it for him!

This is a photo of my buddy "Max".

Thanks Ray for your comments! I was very pleased with the white gel stain. I'm looking forward to another project in which I can use it again.

I really like the wood color choices and the detail of the face. The ears are awesome! You should be proud of such a fine project.

I truly appreciate the encouraging replies from everyone. Crusty, I found the pattern in a book from Kathy Wise "Intarsia Woodworking for Beginners".

Intarsia / Intarsia for my granddaughter
« on: September 28, 2014, 06:27:15 pm »
I made this Intarsia project for my granddaughter. Normally, I try to keep all of my wood choices natural, but this time I wanted to try something a little different. I used "old masters" white gel stain for part of the sweater and pants. The rest is cherry, purple heart, ash, aspen and wenge. She's a little young now to appreciate the effort, but hopefully someday she will.

Mahendra,
Thanks for the portrait and the info. You truly have an artistic eye, the detailing is incredible. Someday I plan to learn how to create patterns, but for now there is an amazing pool of talent from which to draw from on this site...thank you!
