I had an older 6' Delta floor model and sold it when I found a deal on an 8" Jet.  i wouldn't trade the 8" for the world.  It's amazingly stable and solid.

That looks like a hornet's nest to me!  We don't have them in Florida, only a gagillion other vaarmints.   Could be lots of occupants.  I believe I would get help if I were you.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: resizing

I'm with Charlie.  Rapid Resizer not only allow you to size to whatever dimensions you want, it prints it over multiple sheets of paper if needed and provides alignment aids to those sheets show you can properly attach them to the project.  I have used it for several years.

Release the arm tension.  Got in the habit from the bandsaw where the tension is so much greater.  Then I go have a jack and coke and release the tension in the operator. 8)

Tell her you are so excited about this project you found and just HAVE to build for her.  It is going to be a real labor of love unfortunately in order to do it right you had to have a professional grade saw.  Then you saw this amazing deal and jumped on it.

Or just buy her jewelry and shoes and purses for about the same amount ;D

Honestly I tell my wife when I buy something, and she does the same, but neither of us needs the other's permission.  It's worked for 40 years.

Everyone has their favorite.  I use Flying Dutchman blades almost exclusively and have no problem with breakage.

I have the identical saw and love it.  I've had it for years.  You are getting lots of good advice.  Since you are new, go slow!  Everyone wants to push too hard.  Also make sure you are using the correct blade for the type and thickness of wood you are cutting.

The Coffee Shop / Re: Old PC Died Lost all my email contacts

Gabby,

If you still have the old one, take the hard drive out and mail it to me.  If it isn't too badly damaged I will take out the files and move them to another source & return them to you.  May not be quick enough to replace your contacts, but it could return your patterns etc.

I got an email so you must have mine ok.

I remember all of them, but we have a lot now also.  I prefer to enjoy today rather than remember the past (besides the fact that my "rememberer" isn't all that great!

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Removing router bits
« on: July 01, 2014, 10:18:19 am »
Good tip Hardcore.  Router bits often get stuck when either the stem of the bit or the inside of the collet gets a little corrosion or dirt on it, or if the bit is bottomed out in the collet when tightened.  I like the collets on a couple of my routers which self eject the bits when the nut is turned in reverse.
