Pattern Requests. / Re: Let me know if I can help
« on: September 25, 2010, 02:09:54 pm »
Bill,

That's a great idea and exactly what I want to do.  I want to add a photo as well.

My questions for you are these:

Which magazines and years did you do?
What software did you use?

Thanks

Karl

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: New mop

I made a mop as well following the instructions.  I tried using the scroll saw first.  THAT didn't go too far.  Then I ended up using 3 utility knife blades to finish the job.

I used a paper from work off our 24" belt sander.  It was 120 grit, but it removed way too much wood!  I ended up getting Klingspor's flutter wheel.  Their's is cloth backed - much better for sanding this way.

Great looking projects.

Is the "This Home believes" one of Steve's designs?

Keep up the good work!

Grampa,

Since I've been on board here a short time I've seen how fast and accurate your patterns are.  I believe you either have a massive library or you know the requests before they get posted! ;D

Great work on this and every other one you've made.

It's great to see kind and willing people here willing to help without seeking remuneration.  All for the furthering of a great hobby!

Thanks.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: bookmark thickness
« on: September 23, 2010, 08:09:43 pm »
When I made my bookmarks I used 2 pieces of veneer with an adhesive tape between them.  The total thickness is: 0.05".  I stacked 5 together to scroll.  There is a lot of flexibility in the bookmark.
Almost like a leather.

I think you need to use plywood instead of solid wood.  You stand the risk of breaking them.  Also make sure your grain is going up and down not cross ways.

That is a neat beginning intarsia tutorial.  I may try it myself since I haven't finished one intarsia project yet. (I've started one though.  :( )

That is a mighty fine website you have there Mike.  Your projects are impressive.  It's good to see someone making a living doing something they enjoy doing!

Good job!

Welcome.

I thought Creative Woodworks had one, but it doesn't have the saying on it and it is intarsia.
