It is hot outside, but I keep my shop at 78 deg year round.

I think they would help and defiantly make it easier for him. I am teaching my granddaughter who is twelve and handicapped to scroll. The muscles in her hands and wrists are under developed so she has a hard time with turning the wood for corners etc. Spirals made it so much easier. Let him try it. Can't hurt.
