That is the way grampa design would look when assembled. I don't think you would have to cut the slots on an angle. As long as the wood was 1/4" or thicker it should work.   8)

I have notified Steve and am waiting for his thoughts and approval. I really don't think he will have a problem with it. While I am waiting to hear from him I will be creating a plan. ChaplainRons plans is basically how it will work. Soon as I get the OK we will be on our way.  8)

A true AC motor will not work with a rheostat controller. Those motors that are called AC/DC will work. The AC/DC motors have brushes, a true AC motors do not use brushes .....Brushless motors are constructed in a reverse fashion from the traditional form. The rotor contains a permanent magnet and the stator has the conducting coil of wire. By the elimination of brushes, these motors offer reduced maintainance, no spark hazard, and better speed control. A universal motor, an AC motor with carbon brushes and a commutator, can easily be controlled with a rheostat or electronic voltage control. A 2-speed motor is unlikely to be a universal motor.  8)

I don't have a problem with doing it or organizing it. I wanted to get a feel of how many people want to do it by the posts and run it by Steve first. We have plenty of time, still one more week left in August. I will get back with you.  8)

My son-in-laws father works for the rail road and see's pallets all the time. He keeps his eye out for oak or other premium wood types. He just brought me three solid oak pallets yesterday in excellent shape.  8)

Mine is variable speed also. 90% of the time it is on high. Very seldom change the speed.  8)
