The Coffee Shop / Re: Slow
« on: August 31, 2010, 11:01:29 am »
It started yesterday afternoon right after 12:00 EST for me. It took me anywhere from 1 to 3 minutes to read a post. I see it is still slow. I checked it several times and it is not the amount of people on the forum. For almost 20 minutes I was the only one on the forum and it was still slow. Steve did say the forum was on a shared server. If the combined traffic from all these site gets to high then speed suffers. Slow forum is better than no forum.  ;)

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: aluminium and blades
« on: August 31, 2010, 02:20:20 am »
The Flying Dutchman - The Iron Man Blade or Jewelers Blade will work well with cutting metal. Aluminum siding is usually very thin. You could cut off a small piece and try it.  8)
Steve has a video on cutting metal, here is the link.

I hate to burst your bubble GB but the first helmet was used in an 1893 Army-Navy game.  8)

Check out the link,

http://www.pasttimesports.biz/history.html

Also the reason I know it dates back prior to 1974 is being head trainer and paramedic for my sons high school football team for the past five years, I went to several seminars on football head related and neck injuries. The history of the helmet was referenced in several books and literature and referenced to in several lectures.  I also did a lecture on head injuries to the football players and parents on concussions signs and symptoms after the game. I had a brief slide show on the history and importance of the helmet.  8)

The Coffee Shop / Re: Pricing

Jimbo, Like Marcellarius the ones I have seen at flea markets where sold per carriage/letter $1.50. I think breaking it down to carriage/letter pricing would be better. Someone might just want their initials.  8)

I designed my own scroll saw stand with comfort in mind. From the floor to the top of the cutting surface is 28 inches. Use an armless office chair with rollers. I can sit very comfortably for hours.  8)

Pattern Requests. / Re: Many Photo to Pattern Request

Sam, Coyote Stencil Shop? was developed with serious hobbyists, crafters, and professional artists in mind. It is suppose to allow you to quickly and easily turn your digital photos into high quality stencils. It is on sale for $79 right now.

I have been using Adobe Photoshop for about ten years to do all my photo needs. It can be used to make stencils too.  Just don't seed the need for Coyote Stencil.  8)
