I only use packing tape on woods that burn easily fo me. If I'm cutting oak, maple or cherry in 1/2" or above I will use packing tape over the pattern. I never use tape on walnut or mahogany as they do not burn for me.

EclipseScroller, I teach beginner and intermediate scroll saw or as the store calls them scroll saw 101 and scroll saw 102. I am versed in all aspects of scrolling including Intarsia, but there hasn't been to much demand for any thing but 101 and 102.
The store is less than two years old, so we are still building our student base.

Hey gator,
Now that you have a DeWalt learn to feed the blade from the top instead of the bottom. Remove the bottom guard, it will make top feeding much easier.
