Computer questions / Changing a File type ??
« on: July 09, 2013, 04:57:29 pm »
What is the procedure to change a downloaded file to another format?  Tks.... :+}

Reason I ask is I have used Inkscape procedures to be able to make the cut out
area a light gray and the cut line red.  Fill and Stroke thing.  I have a file that I
downloaded which is a PDF file and I CANNOT go thru the procedures to do this.

What is a PDF FILE?
What is a JPG FILE?                Thank Yas again....  Danny  :+}

Just a 2 cents worth....  Bet I changed to the Blue Painters tape over 4 years ago
and was using it right up till this change.  I SWORE BY IT.  Every project I used it.
Got used to pealing it off.  Some projects took a while.  I DID NOT use anything
like spirits or heat gun.  Just slowly patiently peeled it off.  Never wanted to apply
and liquid like spirits to it as would (to me) REALLY MAKE A MESS with it dissolving
the glue from the spray glue and also the sticky from the tape.  Messy I still say.
Think I will still stay with ONLY the spray glue to the back of the pattern then onto
the wood blank.  Hey maybe this be a nickles worth.  LOL  Danny  :+}

And I Thank Ya'lls for your comments.
Reason I decided to experiment with NOT USING PAINTERS TAPE is a project I did
just before....The tape took off a lil parts of the wood face.  Pissed me off some.
This has happened several times in the past.  Maybe 3M brand painters tape made
a bad roll.  Anyway I am so, so happy as to how much easier this method is and how
super easy the pattern comes off.

When I cut my blanks I cut each a lil bit bigger than what I want the finished look
to be.  I use Aileen tacky glue with JUST A SMALL LIL DROP IN AREAS AROUND
THE BLANK.  Clamp for MAYBE ONE MINUTE.  Works (sets) perfectly and will hold
forever.  Fast CHEAP procedure I think.

I also use the 3M super 77 spray glue, but have used others.
All work GOOD.

Thanks for the compliments on my LITTLE CHRISTMAS ELFS.  Had a lot of fun
cutting these.  All came out GREAT.  ................Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Securing Patterns to wood blanks.... :+}

I say its....Live n Learn....  Been Scrolling for around 7 years now.  I have cut
Hundreds of patterns.  Expect for using carbon paper at the very beginning and
then going into various glues to secure the pattern and as of the last 5 years or
so have always swore by using the painters tape.  Probably went thru a dozen
or more rolls.   Well....All of a sudden I started thinking about how dgman does
it mostly.  Gave it a try and was VERY HAPPY with the RESULTS.  I cut these
Santas Elf's Ornaments and basically all I did was use SPRAY GLUE on the back
of the pattern and slap it onto the wood blank.  Stacked cut 4 up using 1/8 BB.
Was WORRIED the first one that the pattern might start lifting off the wood, but
held on till the end.  Gave the piece with the pattern on it a couple sprays of
Spirits (put some in a spray bottle) and after MAYBE ONE MINUTE the pattern
ALMOST fell of the wood.  Cool.  Yea!  Gave the wood blank a couple more sprays
and just wiped off the glue residue left over.  PIECE OF CAKE.  I decided to give
one of my cabinet doors some decoration.  See Picture...........Anyway....

I look very much forward to reading any and ALL remarks to this.  Danny  :+}

That is Beautiful....Looks so Rich and Elegant....  Looks to me like you stacked each
side to cut, so with both sides about the same (except for the taller piece on 2 sides)
You must of DRILLED over 500 starter holes.  Wow!  This project would of took me
a couple weeks.  How long did it take you?  What is the dimensions of it? Danny :+}

Computer questions / Re: Saving Log in Information????
« on: July 04, 2013, 10:36:01 am »
Not exactly sure how everything works concerning log in names and passwords as
I do have a couple that typing in the first letter doesn't work.  Most when I log in
this info a box pops up asking if I want this info. to be saved.  I check Yes and its
always there next time.  Like Yahoo or Facebook.  I just click on the sign in area
and my wifes and my User name shows and we just click on which one.  Anyway
I am still learning a lot of things.                   Danny  :+}

Is there by any chance a Portrait pattern of maybe just the 4 "Guys" ....OR....
I would cut Individual's or even the Whole Family.  Thanks in Advance....Danny :+}

Sure fire way to GET RID OF THEM....  Every year this time we get bothered by
them right n left and especially when eating.  Anyway....  MIX  in small jar OR?
WITH A LID.  A few drops of regular dish washing liquid with APPLE CIDER VINEGAR.
I use a small jar with approx. 1/3 cup vinegar...............

Drill lots of tiny holes in the lid and set it ANYWHEREs....  We have been using this
method for a month and HEY MIRACLES DO HAPPEN.  HASN'T BEEN A ONE THAT
HAS BUZZED AROUND MY FACE SINCE THEN.    Anyway....  Danny  :+}

Hello Friend....I just got to the point after using the brush method and never
getting the finish to look smooth that i CHOSE just use spray paint.  I usually
get a real smooth and more or less professional appearance.  I am a believer
the the Krylon brand is the best.  Many colors come with a built in primer.  Like
2 in 1.  Drys fairly fast also.  Anyways this is just my 2 cents worth.  Danny  :+}
