I'd have to say the laser cut comment. People still look skeptical then I show them the blades and they seem amazed.

Sheila, I'm glad you posted your "springboard" comment. Your sled ornament patterns that were in a magazine a few years ago are a hit. I did change the runners to the year (2010, 2011, etc) and always sell out of them at the shows. You do some amazing designs.

Good luck Clyde. I haven't done anything like that so I don't have any advice. I guess I'd check with the church to see how to handle any liability issues that could come up (like if someone falls and hurts themself). I think homemade goods like jelly, bread and candy would be good to include too.

As an afterthought, the resale items make your crafts that much more meaningful to many shoppers.

Well, I'm not as old as you guys, but I do remember most of those. Kinda brought a tear remembering the day.

I think you did great on the inlay! My only suggestion would be to change the grain direction.

What is the thickness of the wood? If you are using 1/4", then try using 1/8" and stack cut more at once. As far as pricing, material is probably not much, but your time may be. If you want to get paid for the time you put into it, price it accordingly. A lot of ornament patterns suggest using 1/4" but I found that they sell just as good when made with 1/8" stock.
That's my two cents. (Dang it! I'm broke again.)

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Sanding

Someone had talked about using a torch and lightly passing over the areas with fuzzies. I tried it and it does work pretty well. Just be sure to keep it moving. I also cut some thin strips of 220 sandpaper, feed them in the kerf and do some light sanding. On hardwood, I almost never have to sand, but on plywood and soft woods, almost always need some sanding.

Thanks for the info GB. There has been a lot of interest in the pattern but it's not mine so I'm not sure that it would be right to give. I tried searching for Rick on the other sites but came up empty. Hopefully he will pop in here and share his pattern.

I did a show yesterday. Despite the rain (really just a drizzle) there was a great turn-out and we were very busy. I had the picture on display and had lots of people standing around looking at it from all angles. They got excited when they found the face and three horses. Of course, nobody bought it.

Thanks again everyone for the comments, but Rick McCulley is the artist, I just did the cutting. Oh yeah, there are about 110 cuts. I started loosing coun't around 100. I stacked 4 boards of 1/4" BB ply and it took about 4 hours and 12 blades.

Looks good Bobby. What's the door panel going to go on? I had thought of doing something like that for an entertainment center, but I hate doing big projects.

I can't find a link to the pattern but here is a thread on one of the other sites that may help. You should be able to PM him. He sounds very helpful.
