If I find that i have a few fuzzies I use old dental picks, emery boards and sandpaper i can fold in half and place in my saw.  Those are just a few ideas for you.  Some folks use a butane torch, I have not had very good luck using those for small jobs.

If you want to avoid splotching (pine is notorious for splotching) try a coat of shellac first.   it is an excellent sealer as well and you can poly over it.

I do lots of jigsaw puzzles and you have gotten excellent suggestions.  Besides blade in upside down, what finish if any are you applying over the picture?  Try using a smaller blade like the superior puzzle blade from Mike which may take some getting used too, it is very small.

Do you mean for the plastic deflectors, the little hoods or the flat ones?  Might be interesting to see what you come up with.
