My 6" belt sander with disk can be adjusted horizontal or vertical.  8)

The 1" belt sander stands permanently vertical and will get into tighter spaces. If you take off the plate behind the belt you can get it into a tight V area. Also having a smaller surface helps from getting flat places on a curved surface. It is just all around better for small projects.

Here is a picture of what one looks like.  8)

It looks funny but I did that with a cordless drill in 2004. We had three Hurricanes hit Florida. We where without power for over a week. My wife thought it was a brilliant idea. Mashed potatoes, made pancakes, scrambled eggs.   8)

I was wondering where you have been. I thought you had finished helping your friend but noticed you haven't been posting. Drink plenty of liquids and rest is all you can do. Hope you get to feeling better soon.  :)

Ask Steve a question. / Re: finishing
« on: September 28, 2010, 07:15:09 am »
Steve posted this on his blog July 4, 2010.  8)

Steve Good: "If you read any of the woodworking forums you will likely see discussions about food safe finishes. It's my opinion that most if not all modern finishes are food safe once they are fully cured. If you plan to sell items that will hold food people will ask about the finish. It's best to use a finish that most people know if food safe. Pure tung oil, raw linseed oil, mineral oil, walnut oil, bees wax and carnauba wax are all commonly used food safe finishes."

I would think most hardware stores have them. They are pretty common. I know Home Depot and Lowes does.  8)

I have always cut both ways, as the pattern dictates. I am ambidextrous so both  clockwise an counter clockwise feel comfortable.  8)
