Julie - I tried a spiral after watching a utube where the scroller was using one, he made it look so easy.  I'll wait until I get better control, I like the concept though.

Let me try this again, I can see that I did not phrase things right for what I was curious about.

All four of the mentioned blades are supposed to work to prevent chipping on the bottom of the work piece.  So what I was asking was if anyone had tried two or more of those blades and did one work better than the other to prevent chipping - assuming the same density wood, and the same thickness

Thanks guys.  I had a feeling my question was going be like asking what oil is best in a motor head forum.  But I got a lot of good advice so thanks.

@ Toneman, I am going to read your post to my wife and have her get with the program.  LOL

I have a question regarding blades, I'd really like to hear from those who have used the different one's I am describing and their opinions concerning which is better or better for this kind of scrolling or whatever you think needs mentioning to help a newbie.

Flying Dutchman
Scroll reverse - two up teeth at the bottom
Double reverse - two sets of up teeth at the bottom
Ultra reverse - two down teeth one up tooth, repeating
2-way cut - appears to be the same as Ultra reverse to me, yet it is cheaper but tpi does change some

Thanks
Jim

Thanks for that tip on getting into the gallery.  I was thinking there was a way to see an individuals gallery, other than the individual posting a direct link to his own.

Trka

I was an Army brat and Dad's job caused us to move much more than normal, in my first 15 years I lived stateside for 5 of them, time spent all over Europe and Asia.

In the states, I was at Ft Lewis, Ft Hood, Ft Bliss, Nellis AFB TDY, Wright AFB TDY, and some others.  Spent time across both ponds, with most of it in Europe and the Mid-East.  14 out of 20 spent overseas.  Ft Hood is about 2.5 hours from me now.

Take care of yourself, It wasn't all fun, but after the mud, the blood, and the beer - civilian life is a party.

Brian, thanks for the kind words, really appreciate them.

FD-UR blades - Could you explain what you mean?  I'm still learning the lexicon for this hobby

I have mine mounted on a 1/4 hp motor mounted on a plank which is clamped to my work table so it is sideways instead of up and down.  Steve did a review on one some time back.
Thanks for that idea Judy, I fabricated a jig to hold an old corded Drill for the mop sander.  It hangs on the wall now ready to fasten temporarily to the work bench when I need it.
