good innovating and reuse. my old dad always told my mother that if you save something for 7 years you'll find a new use for it. then when he went to work she threw it out - she figured he'd forget by then anyway.

Marcel-you detail is incredible. That tiny font looks perfect. But yes the envelope must have been mangled a little in shipping. Probably a piece of Luna would be plenty strong to support.

Thanks again.

Probably best to load them on line then write a post with a link to the load site. You could load the video in YouTube, or maybe into Vimeo.

You can't post on this site a photo of a logo if it's copy protected (NFL would be) but a link to your own on-line photo should be OK.

This is at https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Zne_EvVDQAQ/VQtixPwVN2I/AAAAAAAAB3c/LG9eH_i15TM/s565-no/DirtyDishes.gif

I'd suggest you angle-cut the inner oval at about 3 degrees and slip the outer ring to make it look like a platter (self-framing).

That's pretty slick. I got some birch flooring a while back and it makes a nice finished piece. But it has a corrugated bottom - yours looks like a flat bottom. Nice.
Ray I milled the corrugated bottom flat with my thicknesser and then ran it over my 18 inch drum sander to further smooth it.

Ohhh - is that why it's 14mm rather than 19mm (3/4")? Makes sense.

I like that. It looks 3D - are the scrolled sections cut then assembled at an angle to give it depth? What's the size?

Happy Sawyers' Day 2015!
I hope everyone has a great day and makes lots of sawdust. If you have not yet, please (try to) post a photo of your gift. I've already posted mine at:

Brag Forum / Cedar Box with Butterfly
« on: March 17, 2015, 02:30:29 pm »

A grandniece came up to me at our St. Patrick's Day party and asked me to make her a box with a butterfly on it. This one is cut from 3/4" red cedar, resawn to 3/8" thick. The box is 2Hx4Wx10L. I got to try out my new P-C box joint fixture. It's a great tool, if maybe a little over-the-top for this work. I've done other box joints on the scroll saw, but this jig makes them tighter and more uniform.

The butterfly is a reduced-sized version of Steve's butterfly shadow design, cut from 1/2" thick Bullet Wood. It took 4 FDUR#5 blades to get through it - the wood is super tough and heavy, but has a red glow where it is cut, and a darker surface where it's been exposed a while.

The lid and bottom are rabbited to fit on the box and the lid has small neodymium magnets on each side to hold it in place.

I also use Chrome. When you reply or make a new posting, the screen shows (top to bottom) edit boxes for "Subject:", then "Message Icon:", then 3 rows of buttons. The top left button has a 'B' and makes text look Bold. The next button has an I on it and makes text into Italics.

The 2nd row leftmost button shows the tiny Mona Lisa and lets you insert a link to an image. The 3rd row has the smiley faces  :) ;) :D etc.

If you place your mouse cursor over the Mona Lisa button but don't click, a balloon pops up that reads "Insert Image". When you do click it, it will insert tags that read "{img}{/img}" (but in square brackets [..]). Paste the URL to your image between those tags.

If you don't click Mona Lisa but first paste the link into the edit box, you can select the link and then click the Insert Image button and the tags will be placed to surround the link. The picture below is linked that way:

Brummie - we have a few UK scrollers on this forum, so it's not quite dead over there. Nice to hear from you.

If I can help with that pattern, I'd be happy to.
