Nice looking knife Matt. Is the blade a kit or did you make it also? I see the kits at Woodcraft all the time and am thinking of making me a knife. Walnut is a good choice as it's easy to work with and looks great. Did you put a finish on it? Thanks for showing.

Rockler also carries it. It is almost twice the price as non-dyes veneeer so I bought a couple cans of General dye stain and colored then at home.

I'm not sure of the Heger but I had a variable speed Craftsman and it was the control board that was bad. But start with the simple things like Keith said and clean the potentiometer first with contact cleaner. I would not recommend using WD40 because that is oil-based and can cause other issues.

Hmm, good idea. I don't think I would need them but this could very well be useful for some scrollers. I don't see any safety issue wearing gloves with a scroll saw as the reciprocating blade only travels a few inchhes.

Sounds like a nice town. My grandpa lived in a small community in Florida and never locked his house. My dad asked him why and he said, "If my neighbors need a cup of sugar or a tool to borrow they know where to come." And he had a lot of tools.

Keith, I used Aleens original and it didn't hold so well. I think you have to spray both surfaces to get a good permanent bond. I then used 3M 77 spray and it seems to be holding quite well. I only use it on small projects. For larger projects I use Aleens but not the spray. I just put a dab on my finger and spread it very thin on the fretwork.

Hi Dan. The only scroll saw magazine still active is Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts. It's a great magazine. There are also other forums that you can join.
