Wow! It looks like you're well on your way to figuring things out. This project turned out very nice. The only problem is once your friends and family find out how talented and inventive you are then say good-bye to any free time...just saying!

What an awesome gift to give to your daughter on her birthday. It's a beautiful piece that I bet she will cherish forever. It's more than a gift it's an incredible memory.

Intarsia / Re: Clydesdale and Colt finally finished

Brian,
It's amazing this is only your 6th Intarsia. Your work resembles the skill of someone who has been creating Intarsia's for years. My wife loves horses and this particular piece really stole her heart. If a piece can do that then what more can we ask for.

Excellent job Andy! You captured your sons image at this point in time and it will remain a memory inscribed in wood forever.

Marcel,
The plaque will remain beautiful regardless of whether you choose to use a backer or not. You did an excellent job and it will look outstanding no matter how it is displayed.

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments. My wife said I was off the hook at least until her birthday...it's funny how that works!

Intarsia / An early Valentine's Day present
« on: January 11, 2015, 06:19:42 pm »
My wife has been after me for quite sometime to make this Intarsia. She said that if I didn't complete it by Valentine's Day she was going to replace me with a Blue-Jay that she has had her eye on. I hope this gets me out of trouble!!

Karl,
Both projects are very nice. I especially like the woven basket. I can only imagine the patience necessary for such a project. You obviously have both patience and an eye for quality.

Karl,
If I didn't already have a number of projects in the works I wouldn't hesitate to take you up on your offer. Regardless, I just wanted to say that your motivation for the offer is your faith and I applaud you for that. You are an inspiration for all to emulate. Also, Sheila and Keith are both creative and kind individuals and your selfless patronage for them is just what one would expect from someone with sincere faith. Thank-you for the offer!

Karl,
I love the choice of woods. The contrasting colors compliment each other. Also, your precise cutting is an added plus in fitting your pieces together. I think anyone would be pleased to be the recipient of such a quality project.

You sir are a wonderful craftsman. I love the design. What better joy than to use our talent to make a toy for a child. It is especially meaningful when it is our own "grandchild". You did good!!

Brian,
You did a wonderful job on all three pieces. However, I am especially impressed with the eagle. It takes a lot of commitment and patience to complete a project with a lot of small intricate pieces and you sir have done a remarkable job.

Wow! If these are examples of your beginning projects I can't wait to see what you'll be creating a year from now. The world is full of extremely talented people.

Brian, I like it very much. I especially like the shaping and detail work. I love the colors and personally it doesn't matter whether it is painted, dyed or natural. Remember Intarsia is a form of art and it's all about making it your own. It has been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and from where I'm standing it looks pretty darn good!!

Al, I would like to express a special thanks to you since you are the one who inspired me to learn everything I could about Intarsia. When I first saw one of your creations a couple of years ago I thought it was beautiful and I've been hooked every since. Also, to everyone in this community who has served or is now serving this great country I wish you all a heart felt "Happy Thanksgiving".
