I doubt if this is true but.......

A young lady was upset because she had locked the keys in her car and she needed to get into it quick because it looked like rain and the top was down on her convertible.!?!???

We slipped back into winter in Kansas too.
It was in the high 70's, low 80's Monday and Tuesday, today the high was 53!
We got 1" of rain last night and had snow and 35 MPH breezes today but the snow didn't stick around long. Expecting a hard freeze tonight which won't help the wheat crop at all!

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Dowel storage

I have three round cardboard mailing tubes of various lengths.   49" 30" and 17" all from things that I have bought or ordered over the years and came in the mail. They all have plastic plugs in the ends and I cover the "bottom" one with tape to keep it in place and to keep them from breaking out. The larger one is about 2-1/2" or 3" O.D.
I just stand them on end and store all my dowels, according to the length in each one, in a corner.
I would recommend that if you don't have any mailing tubes, see if you can find some plastic pipe and plug the ends with some wood cut round and fit snugly.

PS I would check with a UPS or FEDEX shipping station and see if they have any low cost mailing tubes available.

I have been using Mike's FD blades for a while, and my scrolling has really gotten better. the last time I ordered blades, Ialso ordered drill bits (#63). They work great. But my problem is the bits are the same size as the blades. I am cutting a 3 stack of 1/4" Red Oak. Trying to get the blades to feed from the bottom of the stack is hard. I bend the blades before I can get them through the stack most times. I think I should use a size or two bigger bit. But I am not sure how the sizes run on the bits (ex. is a #71 bigger than a #63)? I need to call Mike methinks.

NO! A #71 is smaller than a #63. You need a #50 something to go larger. Numbered bits go from #1 (the largest) to #80 (the smallest)

Now if we could just get everyone to abide by those ten, the world would be a much better place to live in.
And we could get rid of all the lawyers and most of congress also.

I agree with MOONIE and Danny BUT.... do you realize how many CPA's and IRS agents that would put out of work? I don't care about the lawyers who write the tax codes in such a manner that no one can understand what they are reading though.

While on vacation with the whole family (me, my wife, our daughter and son-in-law, our son and daughter-in-law and five grandkids) we went to "Chuck E Cheese". I decided to order a beer (at the age of 68) and the girl "HAD" to card me because of company policy. Then she had to call her manager to take my money because SHE WASN'T OLD ENOUGH TO SELL BEER!!!!
I could understand that it is a kids type of pizza place and NOT SELLING BEER AT ALL but, why even have it on the menu if that was the reason for carding a grandfather????

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Re: cutting thin lines
« on: April 17, 2013, 06:04:30 pm »
I do something similar to dgman only I drill near the center (or the tightest curve) of the line and make the wider kerf blend in going both directions out to a point on each end. To me, the slightly wider cut at the center just looks natural to the eye.

I thought maybe you lived in Nebraska with all the CORN but, I see you are in Kentucky so I guess you use the corn for a different purpose than we do in the Midwest.  ;D  ;)  ::)

Nice job.
I may make some of those for the grandkids for Christmas.
I just have a few questions.
Why did you put a plug in the bottom when the sides are just screwed on?
How do you remove the plug when it has cross dowels on the inside?
If you turn it upside down to remove the plug to the inside, how do you replace it?

Rog
I forgot a picture that will explain the plug system.. it works pretty well.

OK! Now I understand! VERY clever!
Seems like a lot of work but never the less I like your thinking.

I have a few of the 24" and 48" clamps of this style and LOVE them. Unfortunately, I paid a little more for them, but with 89 clamps of various styles laying around the shop, I just can't justify buying more of them right now.

TV and other "NEWS" outlets do more to control government policies and our individual opinions than any of us would ever suspect. That is why we are in such a mess. Everything is being controlled by someone with their own agenda (which is making money with advertising) by creating "HOT TOPICS" to gain viewers.

WHOW!!!! 200 teeth!! I've never seen a blade with that many teeth. Bet it cuts smoother than a babys butt! It must be almost like a metal cutting blade. Sure would hate to have to sharpen it.  ;D
