I just had a look at that link and they say it NZ kauri, then it has to be swamp kauri as it is forbidden to harvest these trees, the price is a way over the top, we pay $5 a super foot [9"x9" x 2"] so you can work it out for your self, some one is making a sizable profit, the wood is dense but soft and would be suitable scrolling

They used to build sailing ships from oak in England and they steam bent fairly big lumber, oak has a long grain and this why it is also impervious to insect attack

That's interesting David, did it say how old the trees were that grow to this height? we have the giant Kauri trees that grow to 50 meters and are over 1500 years old and these are enormous around the base

Figian kauri is not meant for much it does turn well but has to be dollied up NZ kauris is much the same but it is not available as a milled  wood only as swamp kauri, in other words it is against the law to cut a kauri tree, all the kauri available in NZ is from the swamps when these giant trees were flattened thousands of years ago and have been recovered over the years a lot of it is carbon dated back to 30 to 50 thousand years and is available at a price

They were well prepared for this huge cyclone they have just had, with winds exceeding 280kph that flattened every thing in its path over 200,00 house are with out power and untold damage to property and businesses, this is only the tip of the ice berg for these Australian people living in the north east of Australia as they have had severe flooding that has been going on for a number of weeks and has taken many lives and then they are hit by this dreadful thing
I am grateful that my son and family live in south Australia which is 4000 km away from this terrible tragedy

If I buy a pattern book, take a pattern alter the pattern who does the pattern belong to then? if the author of the original pattern says it is how can he prove it just because some of it looks like his, I have noticed since I have been scrolling that there is a big similarity in a lot of patterns

Hi Bob is it sale or return or are they buying off you?  I would not put my stuff in a shop sale or return as if it gets damaged they will not take responsibility and there should only be a mark up of 25% plus sales tax. if they are paying you for the goods it is there call
