I also have been told that silicone can cause orange peel and fish-eye problems with a lot of clear finishes. Many won't even use it on table saw tops and fences for rust prevention for the same reason.

Pretty self explanatory. I used to do a lot of scuba and spearfishing and used this name on those forums. Never saw a need to change it even though I haven't been down in a few years. I will likely go again!

For me it's either lacquer or shellac. Both dry in minutes and you can re-coat. Shellac is available clear or amber which adds a little depth when you want it. I also buy them in larger quantities and spray them through an hvlp conversion gun when building furniture. Either way, after the last coat I rub the project down with 0000 steel wool dipped in paste wax. Makes the wood smooth as a babies butt and an even sheen.
