Computer questions / Re: Computer Problems
« on: July 05, 2015, 01:25:17 am »
Put your computer into safe mode and re run both the virus scanner as well as the malware scanner.  Doing this will give you a decent chance of getting anything that is stealthy.  Since you can not or was not able to use a previous restore point your options are rather limited unless you know someone that is decent at IT and is close by.

Edward,
Question for you.  Is this sluggish behavior recent or long term?  If you have a Windows machine you might be able to use one of the earlier restore points that the computer makes to restore the computer back to before it started to do this.  It will not destroy your information just roll back to a time before the computer started to act wonky.

You need to see if you have any hard drive space left.  Your computer uses your hard drive space as a kind of extra memory and if the hard drive is all full then it has to wait for the normal memory to empty a bit before it can proceed, this can cause your sluggish and freezing behavior.

Another thing to check is to get a program that detects and disinfects your system from programs called malware.  Essentially these are unwanted programs that while mostly benign can clog up your computer.  You can get a decent but free anti malware program form the link ---> https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/.  Install it or a program like it and run it.  It might do the trick for you.

Get togethers, shows and swap meets / Sigh its a wash
« on: June 28, 2015, 07:47:40 am »
Due to the 3.49" of rain the Mentor, Ohio region got in the last 24 hrs.  The Wildwood Fine Arts Festival that I attend every year has been canceled.   The grounds are a swampland today and we are expecting even some more rain.  Flooding is an issue as well.  All n All it was a good decision to cancel the festival.  This just means that I will have even more things for the next show.

Nicely done.  There are no errors in our craft / art form only undocumented revisions.  Great job on the whole project.  Work up plans for it and I bet the only remaining scroll saw magazine , Scroll Saw, Woodworking and Crafts ( SSWC ) published by Fox Chapel Publishing would be interested in it.  Thanks for sharing this with us.

Cut from 5 3/4 inch pine panels.  The paints used are all water based acrylic.  The bank was top coated with shellac.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Problems with spiralblade
« on: June 21, 2015, 07:56:09 am »
I can only think of several reasons that this might be happening.
* The wood you are cutting is splintery that is it splinters easily
* The wood is very brittle - like old cedar tends to be.
* The blade is too aggressive for the wood thickness
* your saw might not be tracking perfectly up and down and side to side
* the blade is upside down

Solutions to most of these are fairly easy.
* Tape the work to be cut
* make sure the blade has been installed correctly
* try a practice cut to see if your saw is tracking properly of not.

Very sorry to hear of your condition.   Perhaps you could learn to make patterns or even teach how to scroll.  Just some ideas Mike.  May the good Lord grant you better health.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: plexiglass window
« on: June 20, 2015, 07:04:13 am »
I cut plexi a LOT.  Put clear tape on both sides mark the cut and using a #9 skiptooth or #9 reverse make your cut.  The clear tape will act as a lube for the blade.  After the cut it should be smooth however should it not be a quick running over the rough area with some 150 grit will take care of it.  Just an fyi magic marker is easily cleaned off using alcohol.
