General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Abandoning my beloved DeWalt 788's

I am to the point where if my Dewalt dies I will get an Excaliber.  I have been slowly moving in that direction.  So don't feel badly Nancy get the other saw and see if you can resurrect one of the other saws for a backup.

Congratulations Ray.  I do not understand why you would be shocked that was a great piece.  That live edge maple slab fit the pattern and subject perfectly and your cutting of it superb.  Something like that could easily go into an art show and stand on its own merits, its that good.  Once again Ray, Congratulations you deserved the recognition.

Brag Forum / Buffalo Bank
« on: July 24, 2015, 10:01:17 pm »
I have a customer that wanted me to make him a Buffalo Bank or 3.  This is the first one of the set.  Cut from pine and painted with water based acrylic paints.  The bank is 9 1/2 inches long, 7 1/4 inches tall and 3 3/4 inches thick.  Finished with shellac.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Blade for 3/4 pine
« on: July 20, 2015, 03:52:12 pm »
What kind of blade for would be best for 3/4 pine?

The blade size depends a lot on how much you are cutting, how fast you want to cut it, and how wide a kerf you wish, also rather you want to have a clean edge or you are just ripping to size.  I work with 3/4 pine a lot and I cut out my shapes with #9 ultra reverse.  For puzzles and things that need a smaller kerf I use a #3 and #5 ultra reverse.

does that seem like a reasonable price?
thanks for help in advance

The only real differnce between a type I and a type II is where it was manufactured.  There are a couple of minor changes but essentially they are the same.  You might wish to bookmark this link - http://www.ereplacementparts.com/dewalt-dw788-type-scroll-saw-parts-c-1009_2631_2632.html This is the parts break down for a type I
