General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Air Compressor Opinions

Small compressors 6 gallon or less are Terrible noise makers and very limited to how long it will blow air before it starts recycling.  Terrible.  I personally like the Vacuuming method.  Never gets all the fine dust off, so still will blow it some.  Another 2 cents worth.  Danny  :+}

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Question about stack cutting
« on: November 30, 2013, 03:21:31 pm »
Well ALL above mentioned ways of securing wood together when stack cutting is GOOD.
     I just got into a HABIT of when cutting the blanks to just make them 1/4" over-size.
Then using Aleens white glue I just apply a drop around the borders.  Clamp for 10 minutes
and away I go.  Like the TINY nail method ok also.  Need to experiment with the STAPLES
as this sounds good also.  Just my lil ole 2 cents worth......................Danny  :+}

As for using a butane torch to remove fuzzies.  I had a interesting experience when I was in the learning stage many years ago.  A fellow member here suggested that he used this method to remove fuzzies.  Wow!  That was exciting as I was spending lots of time hand sanding with different types of objects.  LOL  The FIRST Portrait that I did this on was one I was very Proud of....Yep....You all guessed....No EXPERIENCE  and literally caught a part of the wood on FIRE.
Almost felt like Having a Fit.  Terrible.  Anyway FDUR#1 blade and shelf the torch forever....

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Difference in saws
« on: November 27, 2013, 07:36:41 pm »
Sawman....Seven years ago I started Scrolling.  Started with a low cost saw.  Learning was a experience.  Good n Bad memories.  Didn't know about Flying Dutchman Blades at that time.  Was using blades sold at Lowes.  Bad....  Went thru 2 more Cheapie saws and FINALLY my Little Brother gave me his Hegner....  Wow!  Major difference in my Quality.  Couldn't believe how much better I was able to follow the line.  By then I had started using the FD blades and between them and the Quality Scroll Saw I think I have pretty much mastered any type of projects.  Just my 2 cents.....................................................Danny  :+}
