Be careful what you ask for. Scrolling is a lot like crack. Once you do a little, you want to do a little more, and sooner or later you just can't stop. You may lose your shop. :o

Great idea. Did you use the wrap with the small or large bubbles? I'd like to try this but my wife probably wouldn't go for it. She likes to look outside and complains if the window is dirty.

Meister, good question. I was wondering the same thing. I just used BLO and let it dry a few days. I put a coat of beeswax/mineral oil on it to give it a bit of a sheen. If anyone else does trivets, what do you use as a finish? Will polyurethane hold up?

Do you do any other woodwork besides scrolling? Maybe you could make or dress up a cabinet with some fretwork, intarsia, or inlay.

I have a 12" Craftsman bandsaw and use it with a 1/2", 3 TPI blade. It does a pretty good job on 4" boards. After cutting I run them through a planer and do some finish sanding. Seems like a lot of work, but I do save a few $$ this way.

My sister is hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year so I thought I'd give her a little thank you gift. This is Steve Good's pattern made from walnut.

My wife stopped talking to me. She caught me peeing in the shower. After we left Home Depot, I appologized, but she still won't talk to me.

My wife said she couldn't live without me. She said I can't depart this world before she does. I said, "I can arrange that!" Now I sleep on the couch.

Trust me, glue first, dip second. I had some sleds fall apart last year because I dipped first. The glue doesn't seem to work well with the oils.

I agree about the oak and grain. Also make sure your table is square to the blade. If not, some of the pieces may be thinner in the lower stack, making them weaker. When I cut mine, I use 1/8" and stack 4 at a time. You get more sleds and are only cutting a total of 1/2" of wood.

Did you notice that they didn't have a pattern to follow? How difficult will it be to follow a pattern?

I saw a pattern. If you go to their website and view the videos there, you can see the patterns better.

That is a totally neat idea. I just wonder about the mechanics of how it works. Does the direction of force on the workpiece rotate the blade to change the direction? I like the idea of suction being used to remove some of the dust from the table. I'd like to learn a little more about it.
