I tried the Olsen blades but found they blunt quickly and break easily and now use the FD blades from FD Mike, excellent service

I use a toggle bolt very good for people with arthritis, I also stripped the thread in my blade holder, had it replaced under warranty, but I had a helix insert put in the old one and it is perfect.
I have trouble with blades slipping out all so.
You don't see dust because he will have an extractor system as I do

For 1 1/2" wood you need at least a #7 or #9 blade and feed the wood as slow as poss, I have had problems as well and found it was mainly the feed rate

Yes and I had to boil the copper for the bath then bail the hot water into the bath wash day was the same I had to boil the copper for the clothes washing and when the clothes looked clean drag them into a tub for rinsing then put them through a hand ringer, gas was a coin in the slot, milk delivered by horse and cart and bailed into a billy, later on we got mick bottles with card board tops really modern
This all of course was before 1952, and if you wanted to buy a new car you needed overseas funds and second hand cars were much dearer than a new one
and on and on and on, you are dead rite GB

It has gone back to the NZ distributors they had it picked up the same day, it has to go to Auckland some 700km they should have it by now, they said they have had several Excalibur's that have done the same thing so will have to wait to hear from them, it is still under warranty so it wont cost it is just the inconvenience of not having it

I am in withdrawal symptoms and my saw only packed in on Tues. a bearing has caved in by the looks of it as a few ball bearings fell out of the back, didn't last long as I have only had it for 12 months

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: A Curious Question About Speed
« on: June 21, 2011, 08:32:29 pm »
I use the speed control to make depending on the thickness of the wood and the hardness, it seems to me that some wood cuts better at a higher speed than others
