Sitting down and scrolling out a buck or something may not be the best thing to do. You may just want to draw some lines on a piece of paper and attach it to some scrap wood. some zig zags a circle some waves your initials. You may find yourself humbled quite fast just trying to follow the lines....baby steps.

sounds right, either the blade is not square to the table, not enough tension, forcing the work piece (not allowing the blade to do the cutting), or wrong sized blade. All of these can affect a square cut.

I have to go along with the group, too much force, I encounter this all the time doing puzzles and cars. With this thick of wood and species i'd move up to a #7 blade also.

This is typical of the dewalt 788. There is no easy fix, just get used to the saw and it will be fine in time...

When in doubt use shellac it is for sure food safe. However lacquer is also once cured so long as it is from a US manufacturer.

I got one of the magnetic vehicle signs too. 1 week later while at a farmers market with my booth I came back to my truck & somebody else had it. Never did find it. They probably just took it home and threw it away.
