If you own a camera around $159.00.

I would like to know about it. I have try this kodak pixpro 16.3mp 36x optical zoom full hd video SLR-style camera with 8gb sdhc card that I got off from hsn and the battery charge don't last for a day when it off. I have to charge it before I can use it. I'm not sure if it is the battery or the camera or both. I just got it on friday and i'm going to send it back to hsn tomorrow.

so does anyone else know of a good camera to get that is a SLR STYLE camera  that is close to this kodak pixpro  it is on hsn if you want to look at the spec the item number is 448-703.

thanks.

First off Kodak has stopped making cameras as of several years ago.  Nikon however has a good camera in that price range, the Nikon L30.  Here is a link to it. https://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/nikon-l30/nikon-l30A.HTM.  Now the lens is not changeable however it still is a decent camera.  You might wish to see if you can find a refurbished unit.  I picked up a Nikon D70S with several lenses from a police auction and have been using it for something like 5 years now.  I had it refurbished.  Hope this helps.

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Re: Best finish for detailed projects?
« on: October 14, 2015, 10:07:27 pm »
Rob would it be possible to finish the wood parts ahead of assembly?  If so then you might be able to get away with using a drying oil such as Tung or Linseed.  Or if that is not how you want to go then several thinned shellac coats will seal.  Being that it is thinned it will flow onto the project and dry quickly.  Shellac is thinned by denatured alcohol and any excess accumulations can be leveled with a paint brush and some denatured alcohol.

As for the lacquer your best bet is thin coats, many thin coats.  Don't get in a rush.  Lacquer takes time to apply properly.

Nice tip Nancy.  Another is to roughen up the ends with sand paper.  What ever works for you and you are comfortable using is what you should be using.  Thanks for the tip.

That turned out superb.  Love the finish as pointed out by Don.  Is the pattern available?

Dunk here is the link to the pattern.  It was designed to be 13" long x 4"wide.

I really like that design and the finish is great.

Is that you design?  If so what is the script font?  Very nice and clean.

Thanks

Don

Don this is my design.  I saw this saying at a family restaurant liked it so I designed the sign.  The font is Adine Kirnberg.  You can get this font from this address - http://www.dafont.com/adine-kirnberg.font

The sign is cut from a piece of 1/4" x 4" x 13" Cherry and glued to a 3/8"pine backer that has a flat acrylic black rectangle painted on it to help the lettering stand out.  The sign is finished with Tung Oil.

Great job DW.  Are the compound turkeys Diana Thompson designs or yours?
Diana Thompson's design except that they are a tad bit bigger and have the base.

Brag Forum / Mahogany Turkey napkin Holders and a small flock of Turkeys
« on: October 05, 2015, 12:12:18 am »
The napkin holders are cut from 1" Mahogany and finished with Tung Oil.

These turkeys were cut from pine and the tail feathers from 1/8 BB.  The stand is a slice of 1 1/2" dowel.

Nicely done Lorace.  I have a Uncle that used to make whirligigs for Christmas gifts for the different families in our clan.  It was always interesting to see what the new year brought.  Thanks for sharing this one with us.
