My wife's first attempt at pyrography  this is a practice piece for a project. She is a spinner and I made her a Navajo Spindle. She is going to put that pattern on the whorl of the spindle.

I use a regular kitchen table type chair. My table is custom  built and I have never cared for stools.  I had one that was really good but a little rickety so I measured the seat height (18") and found a really sturdy one at a yard sale for $4. So far I am happy with it for well over 2 years.

This shooting is about as bad as it gets. However the news media -  all of them- just sensationalize it. Interviewing elementary school kids on live national/international TV is just plain wrong. And they ask the stupidest questions. I will quit now before this becoms a book

It takes a very special type of person to do that.
Idiot, imbecile, deranged, suicidal, are a few that come to mind.

I have done both top and bottom feeding.  with the Dewalt top feeding is natural to me and I can not fathom feeding from the bottom. When I used the Porter Cable I fed from the bottom. Whatever way you find that makes it easier for you is the way to go. It took me a while to learn to feed with the Dewalt and get the blade in the clamp and tighten it. But after a while no matter what saw you are using, you will develop "eyes" in you fingers and feeding will become second nature.

I use 4000 grit sandpaper  (square cut from a brown paper grocery bag) and give the piece a few rubs between coats.

One source for latex gloves is the beauty supply store.  I use Sally's because it is closest to us. My wife is a licensed beautician so she gets the professional discount. I think without the discount they are around $10 for a box of 100. The have the x-large size too. I keep a can of dollar store baby powder next to the gloves and shake a bit into each glove before use. Helps them come off easier and I do reuse them when possible.

Prayers to the families . Will I understand-  Never   If they take our guns away then these sick people will find another way to do what ever it is they think they are doing.

Hi Biran  Glad you found us.

It is always good to  see different way of doing the same thing. I know I have a tendency to  use the  "if it ain't broke don't fix it " approach to many things.  After reading Shelia's post I will  give labels a try at some point. I also have not tried the hot glue but intend to.  ( I just keep forgetting -  I blame that on birthdays).  You never know when you are going to say " Why haven't I been doing it this way all along"
