Microsoft embedded IE pretty deep into the Windows operating system. You can ignore it, and set Firefox etc. as your default browser, but I would not try to remove IE even if there is a backdoor way to do it.

Photos - if they are allowed at all - are limited to 128 kbyte. You need to shrink the size or resolution. Steve has a Picture Resizer on his main page that works well. Microsoft Office also has a way to reduce picture size, and other online resources can do it.

If you want a better picture, you need to load it on another site like Google+ or PhotoBucket then paste a link to the site using the Mona Lisa button above (bottom left button - titled "Insert Image" if you hover over it). Then there is no limit since it doesn't load onto Steve's server.

Woody - If you want to email a copy of the photo, I'll see what I can do with it.

Good ones Mahendra.

Since the photo ban I've been having a hard time getting back to the forum, and making patterns has become more of a chore. But if that's the worst of my problems, I guess I doing fine.

Actually my dentist is a fellow woodworker.
He has made some wonderful items. My problem with him is that he is just too darn particular with his wood work items. A miter joint that doesn't fit EXACTLY right drives him crazy! :) And I tend to say "Close enough". :)

Sounds like a good guy to have working inside your mouth.

Man, I'd hate to see what the saw looks like.

BTW - Maybe they were ObamaCare dentists and figured they could make more money making sawdust.

Is the rear adjustment moving on its own or is it just that different sized blades require different settings? Next time you adjust, try some masking tape to mark its position and see if it changes on its own. If it's moving on its own, you might try some duct tape to hold it in place, or add a mechanical holder.

Frank - if you can find a woodworking store in your area, they sometimes arrange demo days when manufacturers are one hand to demonstrate their equipment. They'll let you try the features and point out the differences.

For my opinion, the Porter-Cable ($180 with light and stand) is a great low-cost machine. It is solidly built, has a little bigger motor than usual, and works very well. But it does not have a lifting top arm, and you need to tilt the table (not the blade) for angle cuts. If I were staying under $200 that is the machine I'd go for (in fact I did for my 1st scroll saw).

Once I got hooked on scrolling I bought a 21" Excaliber. It is a beautifully made machine with stay-in-place lifting top arm and a tilting head/blade (rather than tilting the table). It costs about $850 with the stand and you need to add a light and foot switch.

If you inherit from a rich relative, the Hegner is a workhorse. That suggests it might be a hard to control, but I've never seen better control for small lettering than Marcel has done, and I believe he uses a Hegner.

Sorry to flood you with opinion without answering your question.

I do not know how it works but I like to have my pictures in Photobucket and paste a link in my post at this site.  The picture shows in my post. Does it take up space on this forum?  If not that would be a good way to do it.  No only could you save space and post a larger picture than the site allows.  You could use Photobucket, it is free or there are other photo storage sites that may work the same.  I only is Photobucket because that is what I started with and am the most familiar with it.

Paul - that's where we started when the problem 1st surfaced - Photobucket or Google+ as a temporary fix. But the inconvenience has made the forum less usable. I'd like to see usage statistics since this started - I know I'm down to probably 10% of my previous use. My understanding from Steve was that he had unlimited storage on the new site - so that shouldn't be the reason for losing images. It seems more like a bug in the forum software.

This no-picture crap has put a big kink in the use of this forum. Is there any chance the problem will be fixed?

Danny - your big/little letter overlays look very slick. Can you say how you've been designing the patterns? I apologize if it's in the posts and I missed it, but if that's the case, can you tell me where to look?

You need to post a link to it so others can see it. Use the URL button (looks like a globe)  and paste the address. Here's an example. I also selected the link and colored it red so it stands out better.
