General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: New tool

New tools always put a smile on my face, there's nothing like new toys!It doesn't matter what brand they are. I'm sure your new Delta will work much better than what you had before. Congrats on the new purchase.

Just ran across this, thought it was pretty cool. It's a video on using a band saw to make dowels. http://lumberjocks.com/projects/79407

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: "Pooping Puppy" Prototype
« on: February 11, 2013, 11:27:37 am »
Hey Dan,

There will be a set of plans available. I still have a few kinks to work out first. I think I am also going to make an instructional video on how to make it included with the plans. I need to make another one with the new design changes before I can finalize a set of plans that will work easily. The prototype works great, I just want to tweak the pattern so that it is easier to make and more reliable. Not sure how long it will take to make the changes but it shouldn't be too long.

After seeing the "Pooping Reindeer" that Melster posted I decided to give making something similar an attempt. This still has a few little details to work out, but those will be taken care of before I make the final piece. I also made a quick little video of it showing it working.

You can view the video here.   http://www.scroll-saw-forum.com/2013/02/pooping-puppy.html

Good Job Dean, you would never know the wood was pine.

Hey Newfie,

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, after all it is a perfect 90 degree angle, I just hadn't thought of it! Thanks for the idea.

I had a discussion with a friend today about easy ways to align your scroll saw blade to the table. Surprisingly, It was a lot more difficult to explain than I thought it would be, so I figured I'd just make a quick video and show the process instead. This process is nothing new, but I'm sure there are a few out there that might not know how to do it this way so I wanted to show you as well, just in case!

Here is a sample of what Bloodwood looks like as a Santa hat and suit. Be aware that Bloodwood can be difficult to work with, it's very dense and makes cutting it tricky.

Hey Country Scroller, there is a lot of free downloadable movie editing software available that works pretty well with out having to spend dollars, or wait for Christmas. Here is one that you might want to look at, it's open source. http://www.openmovieeditor.org/ take a look and see what you think.
