General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: What to do?
« on: July 19, 2013, 04:39:17 pm »
Depending on the pattern and  how it would look without the floater, I just don't cut it. That what I call artist change, freedom of the press. And I have glued to the backer. Let your eye tell you what to do. Besides no one will ever see the pattern to compare the cuts. So far you are doing a great job on cutting, would like to see the finished work.

For the sake of the granddaughter I pray it's not. My fear is we are headed down that path. I saw a sign that read " We have gone from the power of love -to- the love of power" this will be our down fall.

Great find on the local mill. There is a local mill we buy from. It's a small family run shop with great deals on lumber. I really like working with Mesquite. Here is there web site http://mgsawmill.com/index.html

Very nice pattern and great cutting. Where did you find the pattern, would like to make one.
Mickey...thanks!  The pattern is on Steve Good's site, but I modified it slightly.  I used his Scroll Saw Pattern maker to make the letters Smile.

Thanks,

Tommy T
Thanks- I found it. Now I see what you did. Very smart. I think I'll steal your idea and make one.

Nice job, one of best bowls I've seen in a while. Like the use of the light - dark wood. Thanks for sharing and giving idea on use of woods for bowls.

Great cutting and must say I like the colors. This looks like something that would sell good in my neck of the woods. Thanks for the post.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: mitre sled vs mitre saw
« on: July 17, 2013, 05:10:37 pm »
I have both table saw and a 10 inch slide arm miter saw, my miter saw is used far more than my table saw. My miter saw is set up in my shop and the table saw is set up in the barn. I find the 10 inch slide arm miter saw is all I need for everyday use for cutting most boards for the scroll saw.  Plus blades are cheaper for  10 inch than  for 12 inch. Both saws I got from Sears and very happy with each one.
