Very nicely done.  I have seen several of these that were huge.  I saw one a few years back that was about 10" across at the mouth.  Love the grain.  Thanks for sharing this with us.

Actually since this is a puzzle I do not see the issue.  Having cut several puzzles so that you actually had to build groups and put some in from back to front some in from front to back makes the puzzle that much more challenging.  The only way I know of to ensure that everything fits correctly front to back or back to front is practice, make sure you blade is sharp and your table is square.  Other than that have fun.

Hello Derek from the UK.

Welcome.  There are a lot of very knowledgable folks here so do not be afraid to ask any questions.  Chances are someone will know the answer.  Looking forward to seeing photos of your work.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Scroll saw light
« on: December 08, 2015, 12:07:59 am »
Karl most of the "flicker" is caused by running the bulb below its normal voltage - such as a dimmer.  I have not noticed it when working on my saw.  The LED lights have come a LONG LONG way since I first installed mine.

Go to Lowes or Home Depot with your present bulb in hand.  Go to the lighting section I am willing to bet you will find a LED bulb that has the same base and is way brighter than that 6W bulb you have now.  Do not be fooled here.  If you got a 6W LED bulb it would be as bright as a 60W lightbulb, without the heat.  I have long replaced my light for my saw with a LED version.  Hope this helps.

Computer questions / Re: IS IT TIME FOR WINDOWS "10" YET?
« on: December 06, 2015, 08:31:53 pm »
Danny you can download Windows 10 but not install it until you wish to.  You have about 3/4 of a year left for you to do the free upgrade offer.  I have downloaded it but have not installed it.  I want a few months for them to catch up with the security and patches.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: foot pedal for 788
« on: December 06, 2015, 12:16:17 am »
Two things I immediately did when I bought my DW788, go to HF and get a foot pedal and replace that wimpy incandescent light ( which will burn you ) with a much brighter LED light.  Can not have too much light.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: question on dewalt 788
« on: December 04, 2015, 11:09:22 am »
Just got my new 788 so far pretty happy with it, but was wondering why when I was sawing this morning I noticed when I was pulling the wood to me it wasn't cutting as easy as it was in the other directions. I am using spiral blades. I even changed blades thinking I might just had a dull blade. That didn't seem to matter. I'm cutting 1/4 &1/8 Baltic birch stacked. I never noticed the problem on my craftsman saw. I didn't know if this is just the nature of a 788 or what I know that these two saws are totally different so maybe I just need to get use to it.

Very few saws cut exactly straight up and down with not front to back motion.  it is fairly normal for the blade to be moving in a very small vertical oval. It is this front to back motion that causes the spiral blade to cut better cutting like a normal flat blade than going to the side or backward.  The fact that it does this is no real worry because it is consistant and you can learn to do your control of the cutting with that in place.
