The Coffee Shop / Sandy Hook School Snowflake Information
« on: December 29, 2012, 11:02:53 pm »
A friend alerted us to this tonight and I thought I would pass it on.  And today I painted 27 snowflakes white   :'(

Thank you to everyone who has donated snowflakes on behalf of the children of Sandy Hook  Elementary School and the community of Newtown. We know that each snowflake represents the emotional outreach of the person making it. We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity from around not just the country but the world. At this time, we have enough beautiful snowflakes to blanket the community of Newtown. Therefore, with regret we must close the snowflake project to further donations. Please take this idea and your snowflakes and create a winter wonderland of your own in your community as a show of solidarity for our Newtown families. Please share your winter wonderlands with us. We would love to share your pictures with the families of Sandy Hook and all the other participating communities. Also please read the message below from the PTA of the Sandy Hook Elementary School for another wonderful way to help. Thank you for your heartfelt and amazing creations and for all of your magnificent notes and kind wishes for the Newtown community.

Another free program is Inkscape. Just do a search.  There are numerous tutiorals on the internet.  It is similar to Gimp, but I found it easier to learn for me.

GB Close or not she is a real cutie pie. Glad she has someone like you the help watch out for her.  Charlie left here before I got the chance to meet him and I know that is my loss.  I have seen his work and it is top notch!

Both pieces were plaques. One a US Navy.  the lady that bought it saw it at my last show and grabbed a card. Nice surprise for me

The other was also a plaque but for a near by high school. There is a girl here in the park that will be starting there next year and she has been to every local show I have done  around here. Each time she has admired the school plaque but didn't have the money.  I caught here Mom about two weeks ago and gave here the plaque to give her daughter for Christmas. She told me to give it to her myself but I preferred Santa bring it. She would know where it came from.  The Mom must have shown it to some other folks and one of them called and wanted to buy on for the principle I made 3 of them a couple years ago when we did a show at the school for their Community Pride Day.  Sold NONE that day.  So it turns out a good deed comes back in an unexpected payoff. Still have a third call in waiting. They dont need the gift until this weekend.
