What makes everyone think that this is something new?  Do you really truly think that everything you type, every page you look at, every message you send, every password and login is not being recorded in several places you are kidding yourself.  I have worked in the IT field for almost 40 years and I can honestly tell you that your information is known in many places.  The only truly safe way to safeguard your information is to not be online at all.  Other than that you have the option NOT to use Microsoft.  There are a myriad of other operating systems out there.  The only real problem of course is most of the really neat, good and useful software has been written for Microsoft machines and not for the other OS's.  Sure there have been attempts to make a non Microsoft OS that is totally independent from Microsoft but that effort has essentially stalled in the middle 2000's.  The best you can realistically do is to do some research on how to turn off the things that you do not want to run.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Hi, im a newbie and i request some advise :)
« on: February 11, 2016, 08:21:26 pm »
Daniel there are some very simple but important items that should be done.  First relax and have fun.  When you put your blade in and apply tension on it if you pluck it with your finger you should get a ting sound.  This indicates that the blade is properly tensioned for most cuttings.  You should take a piece of pine that is 19mm ( 3/4 inch  ) and draw lines, circles, curves and then cut them.  If when you are cutting you find that when you stop cutting the saw continues for a little bit then you are pushing the wood into the blade and rushing the cut.  If you are positioned right over the cutting you probably will have trouble with control.  I have found that cutting at about a comfortable reach to the saw table gives me the best control.  You need to be comfortable when you cut.  There are several books out there that have been published by Fox Chapel Publishing that give a beginning scroller some great tips, insights and general instruction.  You generally will get better with practice.  Make things and above all have fun.

This is a Sue May pattern.  I cut this half size.  The woods used are Cherry and Pine.  Finished with Tung Oil.

Looks great DW.  You must have a fair few patterns by now and still they want different ones.   :D :D Well done.

Marg
Marg,
I have like 9 different bank patterns - Piggy, Snail, Rabbit, Fox, Whale, Elephant, Bear, Buffalo, Bird and all of them can have variations done to them size, color, nameplate that kind of thing.  I get requests all the time for different banks even from what I make now.  It has taken a life of its own.

This is my latest bank.  A customer wanted a Cardinal Bank for her son and this is what I came up with.

The bank is 7 inches long x 9 inches tall x 3 3/4 inches thick.  Sealed with shellac.
